The islanders just love the Brits. Been on four occasions and everyone was so welcoming and not just at our hotel.
An amazing albumBeuna Vista Social Club.
Latin American jazz at its finest.
I wish I could stick one of their songs on.

Cuba is generally classified by political scientists and international watchdogs as a single-party authoritarian regime, not a democracy
. While Cuba holds elections for local and national assemblies, the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) is the only legal party, and political opposition is not permitted.
So, similar to Iran, it can be argued that it's citizens are not free. Now how important freedom is to you compared to safety is almost certainly a personal choice. For me, I would want democracy, freedom, others may be satisfied with life under an authoritarian regime (that they may or may not support). So if I was Cuban I would welcome regime change if it delivered democracy. i.e If I was Cuban I would not be interested in the rest of the world anguishing over whether my freedom was legal or not I would just want someone to do something, again, similar to many in Iran who want their fascist government overthrown.

The country is on its knees because of American imposed sanctions and the action taken over Venezuela (Venezuela provided fuel to countries in the Caribbean cheaply under a scheme called Petro Caribe allowing countries to repay the cost over a period of time or by providing alternative goods and services Cuba paid for theirs by providing Health services to Venezuela ) Trump has also threatened tariffs on any country supplying Cuba with fuel which has led to Mexico cancelling shipments
Because of these actions there have been a number of power failures in Cuba which have resulted in deaths in hospitals as life support systems failed.
Cuba is struggling not because of a communist government but because of a capitalist one .
Even if Cuba was an evil Communist regime, (it's not) the people that are suffering because of this blockade are normal everyday Cubans.Better Health Service than the UK (According to gradings by the WHO)

Wait while @WT86 hears about this flagrant violation of the freedom of navigation.2 boats heading for Cuba are missing. They were full of aid.
If the crews are dead it's more innocent people who have died for a blood thirsty rapist.
He won't care. It may even emerge that the air force murdered them like the do with alleged drug traffickers. They will simply state they were breaking the blockade and therefore legitimate targets.
And the world will say nothing.

You know what amazes me is the number of people who seem to like, even prefer, these authoritarian regimes. The people get no vote or say in the running of the country but as long as Mussolini keeps the trains running on time what's the problem? When the Iran war kicked off I listened to a debate on Dubai from some of the expats living there (300,000). They loved it, they could not vote or criticise the UAE government but their lifestyle was superb. If you left your phone on a cafe table and returned 15 minutes later then there it was! Wonderful, wonderful UAE!Better Health Service than the UK (According to gradings by the WHO)

You are Che Guevara and I claim my cigar rolled by hand on the thigh of a Cuban lady......I want the Cubans and Iranians to be Trumps biggest nightmare.
Perhaps the only way to protect their country and its inhabitants from infighting and from the capitalist US sharks circling them and ready to snatch everything from which they can make money is to be authoritarian. They may not have everything they want, but they sure have a lot of what they need. Now imagine the Americans running Cuba, and we’ll see how good their healthcare and education systems are.You know what amazes me is the number of people who seem to like, even prefer, these authoritarian regimes. For me, I believe in democracy, a free press and judiciary, free elections, free speech, open debate, peaceful protest, liberty. That's not Cuba, Iran, China, Russia, North Korea, most of the Middle East etc. I believe in giving people the choice to live as they wish not as they are told.
Finally from the internet
Cubans cannot freely criticize their government. Cuba is a one-party communist state that restricts political freedoms, criminalizes dissent, and maintains strict control over media and public speech
. Critics, journalists, and activists face surveillance, harassment, short-term detention, and imprisonment.
So this forum and our debate would not be taking place in Cuba. We would probably both be locked up.
Definitely getting warm. You are Che Guevara and I claim my cigar rolled by hand on the thigh of a Cuban lady......

Nothing to do with bombing. I am saying that many people seem to prefer authoritarian regimes. Period. Left wing, right wing, hard line Islam. All these ideologies promise to look after you in return for your blind and complete obedience to the ideology and it seems to suit many, many, people just fine. But it's not for me and I support the right of people like me to have a choice via free elections. i.e Democracy.A common mistake people make is to presume that people opposed to countries bombing/starving human beings are doing so because they suppport the regime running their country.
Its much easier to defend the country doing the bombing/starving if you make that mistake over and over again.
