Désiré Doué - 19 Year Old French Attacking Midfielder

Certainly looks an excellent talent! Would be nice to grab one of these before they explode elsewhere and we get quoted £80-100m everytime
Agree to some extent, but the «issue» here is I highly doubt an 18yo coming from a different (and much weaker) league would be a better option than for example Oscar Bobb or James McAtee who already knows the team, has been exceptional for the academy and already has PL experience. For what it’s worth I’m very confident that both of them would be playing regularly for most Ligue 1 teams currently. There’s also Echeverri arriving in 2025 who plays the same position and is rated as one of the best U18 players in the world

Wow haven't heard of this kid before but has some shades of Leroy Sane in his game. Very shifty and has some incredibly quick feet. Think the only guy we have in our squad with quicker feet is Doku.

Are there any rumors of us being interested in him/scouting him?

@Dribble thanks for the credit, but just luck seeing that vid more than judgement on my part. He is one of those very rare players who appear to have the lot though.

Some similarities with Sane I would say, but appears way more two footed and happy to beat players on either foot.

I don't know whose place in the squad he'd take, but if we don't get him someone else clearly will. If it's Dortmund (as mentioned), then at least we'd probably have another chance in 2-3 years maybe. If it's somebody else he goes to, that might be that.

Often times we stumble across gems by complete accident, but you still recognised his talent from a short series of clips, & I agree with your initial assessment 100%.

There's something about the kid that screams special. He still seems a but under the radar, but it's times like these I'd love City to strike.

I've not seen or read anything negative about him or his ability since you brought him to our attention, so I can only see positives in pursuing him. I seriously hope we do.

Imagine him added to Foden, Doku, Bobb & Lewis? That's some serious talent going forward if we could add Wirtz &/or Musiala & Neves too.

I've similar impressions about this guy as I did when I first became aware of Florian Wirtz. We should be all over him.

Think it might be time to splash some of that cash from our treble winning season. Would be an incredible window if we could bring in Paqueta, Desire Doue, and a potentially a CDM prospect like Joao Neves.

It'd be nice to just cut out the middle-man (Dortmund/Benfica etc.) and get the kid for a fair fee rather than paying £80-100m down the line. We've been successful doing it with the Argentinian kids like Alvarez and Echeverri but we've yet to do it in Europe.

Someone give Txiki a call

Eventhough I would rather to invest in Willian Estevao

High risk high return hopefully

Very true. We seem willing to take risks in South America that we don't in Europe. Having said that, we paid £14m for World Cup winner Julian, & Championship clubs are wanting £40m for academy products with no league experience.

£14m & loaning players out to CFG clubs (Savio) is one thing, £40m+ is another. At that price, we'd want an extreme generational talent, or someone we could get our money back if it doesn't work out.

The rules change so much, I lose where we're up to, but does buying players for the academy count toward FFP/PSR?

We have lot of hypes talents that have fallen through CFG, Marlos Moreno, Kayky?, Claudio Gomes, Thierry Ambrose, Bruno Zuculini, Nahuel Bustos, Slobodan Tedic, Diego Rosa, Mix Diskerud, Thomas Agyepong, Enock Kwakwa, Mohmmaed Abu, Daniel Arzani, David Faupala, Patrick Roberts etc

A lot depends on what you pay for the hype. A lower price makes it worth the risk. At a higher price it maybe best to allow a Dortmund to take the risk, however 3 years down the line you'll be coughing up £100m+ for a finished product.
