this may sound daft to some of you and im no genius when it comes to running forums and that but would deleting a load of topics/threads help? is there anyway to keep it to a 10 page limit or anything and if so would that help speed things up removing a load of crap?

I think it would. It's all to do with the clock system thingy (works out which posts should show as new based on the exact time a user last did anything, click on a link, write a reply etc). Less threads means the clock has to check less posts to see if there's any new ones, meaning everything should in theory run quicker. That's my very basic understanding of how forums work anyway. Might not be that simple I don't know for definite.

But the site is slow on refreshing page also

Would be a good idea to archive some older none football related topics, not sure how time consuming this would be

I know people like contributing and thats what a forum is about but how many times do we see topics with the same exact opinion constantly reiterated by different users?

Myself I tend to read a topic, then look at the responses, if a response covers my opinions its rare i respond.
Maybe members reading replies more would lower the number of posts?

if Mods started deleting alot of the useless stuff that gets posted this will discourage members from posting it aswel.

i was thinking more threads rather than individual posts, i dont know about the rest of you but i rarely go past page 2 in the bluemoon and transfer forum?
