His injuries came at the wrong time when he was on a roll, so we don't know how far he could have gone. I personally reckon he can get between 100-110.
You think he can go up from 70+ to 110?

Yes mate. His last win was off 92, and he did that within himself. We think he had a few more wins left in him, but the season ended that year and then he developed his injuries which were undetected for 12 months. In the meantime, he's been rehandicapping himself.

Even if he can't get to 110....He's certainly a 90-100 horse, and at 78 currently he is very well handicapped. I think he'll need a run or two, and he is very dependent on rain, so he might lose all season and then when the rain comes in October, be ready to fly. Which is pretty much what happened when he racked up a 7 timer, in a few hot races. It's a question of if he can get back to where he was, Tim Easterby thinks so, and that is good enough for me.

Can you tell me another flat racehorse past the age of 9 with nearly 20 losses on the bounce that will suddenly improve to them numbers you are making out?

Your not listening. Forget his age, forget his 20 losses on the bounce. He has been running with an abcess in his mouth and a sinus infection since December 2009. For a 9 year old, he has very few miles on the clock. He has shown no signs whatsoever in training that he doesn't have the legs for it anymore, he hasn't run at all since July and has had a nice break in fields after his operations. Frankel would lose 20 on the bounce if he ran with an abcess and sinus infection. You should have seen the surgery pictures, its testament to the horse that he could even run and finish races.

I've asked Tim the question about his age, he always tells me not to worry about how old they are, they tell you when theyve had enough. He still pulls ahead of anything else on the gallops.

He isn't a typical horse, his losses arent because of a loss of ability. Time will only tell, I'm only reporting on what comes out of the stable, rather than pure speculation or comparisons to other horses past and present.

Racing is all opinions, I have mine, you have yours. The way I see it is Tim watches him work every single day, if he says he has stilll got it, then he has still got it.

So TIM as you know him ran him 18 times with an abcess and sinus infection after his winning streak?

His sinus problem and abcess was picked up in June last year, it was previously undetected, despite various vets checking him over when he hadn't run as expected.

Are you actually questioning the ability and/or integrity of Tim Easterby as a trainer?

Am not to bothered to be honest but would hope he never did,i do think its a bold statement to say he will improve the amount you are saying..

And its not a dig as this is a a forum for a debate, lets see in 6-8 months if he is near 110 or 70..

It is a bold statement, I will agree. Even if he is at his best, he might not reach that mark, I accept that. I'll even accept 110 might be an overreaction or exaggeration.

However, the truth is we just dont know because in his prime he picked up his problems, there is no telling what mark he could have run to. He went from 70 to 92 in one season and his run off 92 was a very hot race and he had plenty still in the tank. I'm willing to accept that it is a tall order to repeat that, but i'll disagree with any notion that is he isn't capable of it.

His last run against Mia's Boy off 92 he won with a bit in hand, Mia's Boy was rated 105 at the time. Might be significant, might not be.

That was 18 months & 20 runs ago when your horse was flying, some handicappers can just improve & improve & then they hit a brick wall & can fall back down the weights as quick as they have risen through them.

Mias boy would probably beat your horse out of sight 10 times out of 10 at the moment.

Anyway lets just see, hope its a money spinner once again for you,but i doubt it.

The 200 million they are losing out on Montjeu in the next 10 years was some quote and to have had a horse that could comand those prices is amazing. It makes you wonder how much it is they are making on Galileo if anything was to happen to him they would be counting the costs with the horses he sired in Frankel and New Approach that horse has 20 group 1 winners so far by the end he is finished they would of made a fourtune out of him.

Stud value is everything nowadays.
Even winning a group race or a classic pales into insignificance when it comes to breeding.
The downside is that some truly great horses are retired prematurely.
