King George V1 and Queen Eliazabeth Stakes on saturday
My fav flat race of the season all age's running over the best distance of 1 mile 4......There was a debate on the sunday forum abt the race losing some of its sparkle and not enough superstars winning it in the last 10 years
Some of the past winners are just breathtaking
Mill Reef
Brigadier Gerard
The Minstrel
Troy
Grundy
Shergar
Time Charter
Teenoso
Mtoto
Nashwan
Belmez
Generous
St Jovite
Lammtarra
Montjeu
Gallieo

And these two Monsters
One for you pal........How fucking easy was that & look what he left in his wake.....

And one of my fav horses of all time

Cheers for that Col - I'll be at Ascot on Saturday, and you're right - it's a great race that has thrown up some true champions, and you win this one on merit.
Hard to see beyond Telescope, Taghrooda and Magician, but I wouldn't be surprised if something runs a big race at a price.
Bring it on...

Perhaps the Breeders Cup has something to do with it? Flat horses in the past generally wouldn't have raced that season after the Arc.

For instance, High Chapparal took the Epsom Derby, Irish Derby, (3 month break) Arc & Breeders Cup Turf route.

Your right BP thats one of the arguments that was given & its a big shame
Would of been a cracking race had Australia lined up........

I'm not one to question Aidan O Brien, but surely the fast ground on Saturday would have been ideal for Australia? If it comes up soft at Longchamp, it might not even run.

I can't see past either Treve or that German wonderhorse Sea The Moon for the Arc, personally, even if Australia runs.

Surely, given the glorified handicap nature of the race, collateral damage would be a shoe in if entered?!

Saw him the other week, gave him a polo mint and your regards!

On the King George, I'd be laying Telescope all day.

Which means he'll probably hack up.

I think if Collateral Damage was allowed to compete in the Arc without a jockey Mark, he would still finish last!
Seriously though, I'm glad the old warhorse is alive and well.
I'm all over Magician personally, so you can safely rule that one out of your shortlist.

I Am Beautiful in the 2 year old race at Ascot looked good in winning his last race. O Briens 2 year olds are starting to win after a slow start. A hardy horse could be good value.
Magician in the big race ran a cracker last time against The Fugue at Ascot. The favourite looks a class horse but Magician seems to like Ascot and if the grounds fast then it could be good value.

Are we having a Goodwood cup tipser comp next week?
Got a tip for saturday there next week...Second Step in the second race...mfstud
