I haven't had cows milk in years. Coconut milk on my cereal is just fine
I think it`s admirable that you are trying to improve your health. I have to admit when I saw the title of the book,"How not to die" I immediately became sceptical. We all die eventually! Then I checked out the doctor. From Google:Well, no…I’m just grabbing anecdotal feedback atm but this ties into me cutting out the asthma steroids (again trialling).
The milk/chest infection line comes from How Not to Die" by Dr Michael Greger.
Might be worth a read.
I’m just testing the water atm but keen on people’s own experiences.
Thanks mate.I think it`s admirable that you are trying to improve your health. I have to admit when I saw the title of the book,"How not to die" I immediately became sceptical. We all die eventually! Then I checked out the doctor. From Google:
Greger has swallowed the vegan philosophy hook, line and sinker; not that there's anything wrong with that. He promotes veganism with religious fervour and has forged a career speaking on health issues, including guesting on the Dr. Oz Show. Surely that is the ultimate recognition of scientific expertise!
So, I said you are best to talk to a Doctor. Obviously this is not possible with Dr Greger but I did look at the Asthma UK website.Their advice:
If you have any concerns or are worried about taking steroids, you can call the Asthma UK Helpline on 0300 222 5800 to talk to one of our respiratory nurse specialists. You can also message them via WhatsApp on 07378 606 728 (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm).
None of this is my experience of Asthma but I have had some pretty damn serious health issues and only take advice from a qualified doctor and not citizens ;)
Was she diagnosed with lactose intolerance? We had to switch one of my daughters away from dairy a few years back. Did her the world of good, she likes the hazelnut but not the others, but it noticably helped her health overall.
She can have the odd bit of diary every now and then, an ice cream or a cheese sandwich, but made us realise how much dairy we were filling her up with. Milk to drink, butter on toast and sandwiches, a bit of cheese, a yoghurt... All adds up and for some it's not something their bodies can handle.
If you feel sluggish, bloated, headaches, then could do worse than try a week without dairy. Non dairy butter is cheaper than butter, the milk isn't and is an acquired taste, the cheese is minging unless melted. But the benefits could be seen for us within a week.
