I don't want us to be ripped off on price. We give the selling team the funds to improve their squad, we give every other team the motivation to make transfers difficult for us in the future, we make it harder to comply with FFP, and we get slagged again for wasting money.

It should be all of our concern that the club operates well in the transfer market.

On a personal note, of course it isn't. But with FFPR up and running, we can't go chucking shit loads of money around like we were a couple of years ago. £27 million is a huge fee for a player who will have little re-sale value but I'm sure the powers-that-be will have done their homework and will know what price they're prepared to pay. That price may be £27 million or it may not.

My view is that he should not join our project if he has nothing nice to say about this football club. He is obviously devoted to Liverpool FC and should stay there. We don't want half-hearted commitment.
