He's an actor, made a decent living from playing the cockney hard man or football hooligan and good luck to him. It's not his fault the media confuse his acting persona with his real life one, so portraying him as the hard man he isn't. I remember Dave Courtney saying similar about Vinny Jones when he started playing gangsters, but Vinny was believing he was one. He said, "There's a world of difference between acting one and actually being one. If he tries it in the real world he'll soon find out."
