Born in Northern Ireland, plays for the Republic. Parents are Northern too, so it makes no sense to me.

Good Friday argeement states that any person born in the 32 counties of Ireland can apply for a Irish passport if they want it. So thats why Gibson and Wilson have declared for ROI instead of NI. It could well just be those twisted NI fans who have been on Lennons case that are on Gibsons case now but I doubt that.
Yes but he had committed to NI as a youth and the IFA had invested time and money in his international development. He then jumped ship and all the good work the IFA done was for nothing. Same for Wilson too.

Playing youth football does not class them as a international player. To be honest Gibson isnt going to do much while he stays at the Rags. Think Wilson will be the better player of the 2 but if they dont want to represent NI and go for ROI then its up to them. Also beleive there is 2 more wanting to change from NI to ROI in Ferguson at Newcastle and Barton from some championship club. Maybe they have seen something within the NI setup that they dont like and would rather just go and play for Ireland.

Am I the only one who feels a bit sorry for him? You may say grow a backbone, but I couldn't handle that being said about me!

I'm sure 15k a week would sort it!

Poor stuff from the United fans to be honest, driving ONE OF YOUR OWN PLAYERS off a site due to abuse. You should support your players, encourage them, what good does abuse do? None. Will probably knock his confidence and make him play even worse. A few words of encouragement would have been better, not heavy abuse like that.
He should do a Tevez style celebration next time he scores, that'll teach them.

I'd like to think that even Jo wouldn't get that level of abuse.

I don't watch United very often, but I have to say that I've actually been quite impressed with Gibson whenever I've seen him play. He's scored some cracking goals for them and is still only a youngster with room for improvement.

Typical of those twats to treat one of their own this way.

I'm a 'rag' so fully expecting some stick just for that.
Gibson isn't a 'youngster' and you must be easily impressed Blue Dan, they guy is not good enough for a club as big as United.
Having said that, his treatment and the abuse received on Twitter is out of order.
