to be fair we did win the league with stones playing quite a lot of games
Indeed, such a thing did occur

I think he is perfect for us because he brings so much quality and experience - not only to the left back position but also as a backup left CB and even as a back-up DM. No doubt we need 2 new CB, but if we sign Koulibaly as Laporte's partner and Alaba as a left-back he can certainly also be the left CB back up for Laporte and when needed Mendy can play as a left-back. So we can basically save money and not spending a lot of money for another CB and use that money to bring in a midfield player or a winger .
On the other hand, despite everything I have just said, there is a 0 percent chance he will join City. Bayern will offer him a new contract with a very, very high salary, as they did with Neuer and he will stay there.
Wouldn’t even offer them that the ****s.Let’s lowball Bayern here.
Initial offer £17m.
Echoing that, Bild Sport saying that he's available for 36m euros, but wants real or barca, neither of whom can afford him. We have the best chance of anyone else because of Pep, but he doesn't want to come to England.Bild claim that during the recent talks over Leroy Sané, Alaba’s management ‘proposed’ that he be exchanged for the German international.
City responded that they would indeed be open to a trade, but only if they were getting Kingsley Coman, not Alaba.
In other words, the Austria international was not the ‘top priority’ at the Etihad.
The truth of the matter is that Alaba’s contract expires next summer and so far the talks about an extension are yet to yield any results. There is, however, ‘no serious interest’ from other clubs, notably Manchester City, in signing him this summer.
