Silva played a bit deeper yesterday than he normally does. Especially in the first half. he played well too. Pivotal in getting the ball quicker up the pitch to Nolito, Sterling and Aguero.
Also with him doing that it allowed Gundogen a lot more space to get forward to arrive late in the box, i hope this is the shape of things to come because with Gundogen sitting deeper alongside Dinho it wasn't really working as he's more effective in and around the box, Dinho sitting, with Silva and Gundogen playing fluid in the hole they'd both be a nightmare to pick up......hopefully the same Tuesday because over in Barca if Gundogen had put that chance away it may have been a different outcome.

Agree 100% Gundogan's best game for us because he had slightly more space and time.
Need to add Kev to the central midfield mix in time so we can rotate and substitute to keep the team fresh.

Great game but still needs to be dropped for KDB.

De Bruyne replacing him makes no sense - KDB doesn't suit the role Silva played yesterday at all and Gundogan was much better in an advanced role yesterday than playing deeper do moving him back to give KDB the advanced role is a counterproductive step.

He'll fit them in somehow but it won't be by swapping KDB for Silva.

His first thought is "forward". Playing that Modric role is ideal for Silva IMO. Against Southampton last week he was pretty much the only player who was passing forwards consistently in the first half and if he can play there all the time he'd be ideal to start off attacks.

Interview with Marti Perarnau in AS today - on the subject of how Pep will play his style of football in England :

Q -That will take a leader on the pitch - who is it?

MP - At Bayern it was Lahm - Here it is David Silva.

Q - Is that because of his game over his Character?

MP - Lahm was a quiet leader, was a highly respected captain. And Silva is not Xavi Hernandez and Xabi Alonso, but their leader.

Sounds like Dave is very much in Pep's plans.

Surely not. He's the world's greatest hide and seek champion of the past 12 months. How stupid can Pep be?

He can play this role for at least another three years in my opinion.
