David Silva/Ali Benarbia.

Since Ali stopped playing for us, we have always said "I wish we got him when he was younger, we'd have had a real player on our hands".

Is David Silva that player? I was thinking it the other day. I think he is.

I see your point but you seriously cannot compare David Silva to Ali Benarbia.., yes he might have been good for us back then but David Silva is in the same category has Xavi and Iniesta in my Opinion and it is silly to compare the two, Ali Bernarbia was light years away from what Silva is.

I think that we have been waiting for a midfield general who has the same influence on the team as Bernarbia had.

The fact that Silva is still only 24 and that the Ginger Pig went on to play till he was 67 holds a great and glorious future for MCFC.

The sad fact is we probably need another creative player. We cant go into this long season with one playmaker source. An alternative options would be to drop Tevez into the middle and see how he does infront of Agrero and Dzeko.

Ali wasn't quite in the same class as Silva. But he was hardly a nobody. He never got in the french team because he played in their golden generation, was a bit of luxury player, and to compete with a certain Monsieur Zidane (along with the likes of Djorkaeff and Dugarry) He won two championships in France, and was French league player of the year in 1999.

Just this. I watched Ali B in awe at times he was a better runner on the ball than Silva, harder to knock off it and if the French manager had not been so prejudiced probaly a better partner for Zidane than whoever he chose to play.

We were priveileged to watch the glittering embers of his career but I would love to see a young Ali B in our side now.
