David Silva leaves City after 10 years

Merlin has always had magical timing. Even this announcement is well timed. It’s gives all of us time to reflect upon his pure genius.

His artistry cannot be questioned. The football field has been his creative canvas.

The pass to Edin in the 6-1 is one that I will never forget. But beyond that, his warm character and deep humility represent the very best of what City fans want from their players.

As he quietly returns to Gran Canaria at the end of the season with little Mateo by his side, he goes knowing that he will remain forever in our hearts and minds.

I'm not really one for statues, and certainly don't want to see them dotted around the stadium.

However, the embers of the first tangible cycle are now flickering.

I would rather see something which acknowledged the true greatness of the collective?

Sergio, Vinny and David.

City's rebirth.

Our Dave has very few equals and even fewer peers. That pass to Edin is one I'll never forget. What a privilege it's been to watch his wizardry in full flow and in our colours.

Yep I thought he would like another chance at the CL, when there were rumors he will quit after this season. Let's get that CL trophy for him! He deserves it, a legendary city player.

I was nearly banned for an earlier post when I suggested the same and, like you, left out Zabs :)

I loved it when he so mesmerised Arsenal that that they just stood and watched as he turned a great languid circle to reboot the attack. Hypnotic.

Oh yes I remember that one now! As I watched couldn't believe it as he truly made them look like fools!

Haha.

Yup, I think Zabba doesn't quite get statue status if talking direct impact on the pitch?

Toure had the impact but not the class off it.

I have no doubt that thousands will be on the pitch on the final day of next season to ensure David is carried off shoulder high.

Vinny denied us that opportunity.

His best goal was a defeat at West Ham, Outrageous.

Moyes tried to kick him out of one game at home to Everton. He left Rodwell going out for hot dogs before slipping in Milner for a goal.

10-men away at Hull, arguably his best performance in a City shirt. That and 3-0 Wigan at home (Sergio hat-trick) I took my lad to his first game that day for his third birthday.

So it's farewell David Silva
You have chose to go now David
We've seen your great footballin'
But we won't make a fuss
It was obvious....

To the tune of Hi Ho silver lining

To be sung at the last home game.

(May need a bit of work...)

The cornerstone of our recent success. Dave became my favourite player after his first season and if anything my man crush has steadily grown over the years .
Best ever City player by a fucking mile.
Ole, ole....

I'm 45, so I've seen some shite, and so I appreciate him no end.

My sons are 15 and 13, and they only know success, yet they fully appreciate his greatness.

He's been a shining light in a sea of shiny lights. Love him to bits.

Over the past few seasons, Ive gotten emotional every time I watched him play, knowing it would come to an end eventually. God knows what I'll be like watching him next season.

What a privilege it has been, and for the next season will be, to have watched El Mago.

A genius footballer who, in my opinion, hasn't had the recognition he has deserved

I look forward to a trip to Gran Canaria to see him finishing his career

This one?

Best football player I've seen live in a blue shirt.
Cheers David, welcome round mine for a pie & a pint anytime

David Silva and Manchester City were a match made in heaven. A player who they said didn't have what it takes playing for a club who they said didn't have what it takes.

From the first trophy in 35 years to an historic treble he's been a major part of it all. The fact he has only made the PFA team of the year twice out of nine seasons is f*cking criminal.

Best player who ever played for us.

I have a feel8ng Sergio' s final good bye will be the craziest but worst moment for us blues, tears will be seen for miles
