David Silva leaves City after 10 years

David Silva has earned the right to make whatever decision he wants with absolutely no pressure or influence from anyone. I could catch that man in bed with my missus and I’d tuck him in. He can do whatever he wants for me.

Pep Guardiola on David Silva: "Extraordinary. The amount of games, the huge quality in the games, the titles. He is one of the six, seven, or eight players that make this club what it is right now and always I think this club will be grateful."

David Silva on his ten years at #ManCity: “When I look back at everything I have achieved I could never have imagined it, even in my wildest dreams. When you are young you don’t dream about all of this

"You dream about becoming a footballer, a professional footballer, you dream of playing in the top flight. But you never think about all the things that you could possibly achieve

“I arrived here having just won the World Cup. It was a change in country, league, language and everything was quite tough but my teammates welcomed me and really looked after me and after a few months I settled in

"I have always tried to do my absolute best, to always behave well and I have tried to work very hard too. I hope that people have enjoyed my football for all of these years.

David Silva sends Man City fans a moving farewell message

He said: “When you are young you don’t dream about all of this. You dream about becoming a footballer, a professional footballer, you dream of playing in the top flight.

“But you never think about all the things that you could possibly achieve. Even more so now when I look back at everything I have achieved I could never have imagined it, even in my wildest dreams.”

Silva dodged questions about his future, with speculation that he may be lined up by Inter Miami in the MLS, or a return to Spain.

But he said that it will be a wrench to leave Manchester, and say farewell to the rest of the squad: “I’m going to miss them a lot because we have been together for so many years - also the people who work here at the club who have made everything so easy.

“They are always there for me for everything I need every day.”

City fans adore Silva, with many citing him as the best player in the club’s history, and Silva says the feeling is mutual.

Sadly, there will be no fans at the stadium to see him bow out of English football - but the fans' group 1894 are planning a tribute to him before the Champions League second leg against Real Madrid on August 7.

“They have shown me so much respect – and respect is the most important thing for me,” he said. “They have shown me and my family respect wherever we go and then on the pitch too. I am very grateful for all of this.

“I just want to say thank you to all the supporters, to the club, to the workers here at the club because they have made my life much easier and I am grateful for that.

“I will be Blue – Blue forever.”

“I just want to say thank you to all the supporters, to the club, to the workers here at the club because they have made my life much easier and I am grateful for that." "I will be Blue – Blue forever

David Silva on how he wants to be remembered: "I would like to be remembered as a good guy, who enjoys football. I hope the people enjoyed my football as well. It's simple.

They had told us that we had a project and it was to win trophies. Then, in my first year, we won the FA Cup." "The rest is history – we made it happen

David Silva on Pep Guardiola: "I think his influence has been huge because what Pep has done during his time here has been incredible

"We have won a lot of trophies, and what's more, we have dominated football here in England too. The way we play against the big teams and dominate matches is something that requires a lot of hard work and that's what he has done."

A very special player who will be sorely missed. Hopefully, there is one trophy he can win...
