I havent seen that much of thos guy - I thought he was a winger personally

Is there anyone, past or present, that is/was similar

From what I read he seems like a Deco (in his prime) type?

I suppose Deco is a reasonable comparison. He often played centrally for Valencia but also played on the wing as he usually does for Spain. He is VERY one footed from what I've seen on him, always trying to get the ball onto his left. This is his weakness because the moment has sometimes passed by the time he's got it onto his left foot. Great left foot though and very good vision, balance, pace, skill, etc.

Stop adding separate questions to your question!! How about I answer/don't answer in the same/different sort of method. David silva is/was like/not like dennis/goater.

David Silva's very similar to Eyal Berkovic, he's always moving into space and looking to give his team mates an easy option to pass to and is very adept at keeping possession with little one two's and simple 10 yard passes. When he gets the chance though he is always looking to play the strikers in with through balls. Defensively he's probably one of the hardest working playmakers around and although he's not a tackler will close players down and try intercepting quite a bit. He's not really one for running at defenders and he isn't the quickest so I think Mancini's got it spot on if he can link up with Tevez and Adebayor just ahead of him.

This is from Valencia's manager, talked about Silva's best position and his style of play.

....It seemed harsh to force Silva's former manager Unai Emery to watch the player whom the financially troubled La Liga club have just lost and then discuss his merits too, but Emery was gracious and suggested that Mancini had immediately found the right way of deploying him.

"His best position is playing off two strikers and just behind them like he played tonight," Emery said. "We used to occasionally play him with just one guy in front but what he needs is freedom, he needs to be able to receive the ball then play other people in and if that means him going out on the wings from time to time then that is fine. He has an eye for goal as well and you also need to get the best out of him in front."

Shay Given has compared Silva to Tottenham's Luka Modric, and said: "He'll bring real presence to the team. He can drift into little gaps and holes, he can see through-balls and that killer pass." While at 5ft 7in Silva is an inch and a half smaller than the Croatian, he seems to seek out the ball more than the Spurs player and put himself at the heart of the build-up....
