    Fiorentina and Cagliari, his former club, have announced that they will retire Astori's number 23 for life.

    "In honour of Davide Astori's memory, Cagliari and Fiorentina have decided to retire the number 13 shirt," a Fiorentina statement read.

    My post was in regards to the rumour that Fiorentina had agreed to pay Astori's contract to his wife and child.

    Watched this earlier, it was very poignant. There was a period of around 4/5 minutes before the game where there was complete silence from everywhere, really eerie, and very moving.

    They then had a minutes silence before kick off, as did all Serie A games this weekend, again, it was observed impeccably.
