IRA blowing things up every other week. Bloody Sunday, Mountbatten etc. hundreds dead, thousands wounded.

The Oil crisis, 3 day week, rolling blackouts, miners' strikes. Enoch Powell the conservative party's poster boy.

Vietnam, Yom Kippur war, Iranian revolution, Soviet Russia.

If you ask me this country started going downhill when they passed the Equal Pay Act in 1970. Women earning the same as men for the same job? We just couldn't come back from that.

There was nothing complicated like LGBT pride or gay marriage.




Things were just so simple back then, it's definitely not got anything to do with rose tinted glasses looking back at your youth. If only we could somehow get back to those times.

Is it not just effective sign language that I use with my daughter's all the time when they are out of speaking distance?

Well, the way it is shown is very different to the way you would do it if you were just saying “MCFC OK”.

It’s usually shown down low, essentially upside down, around the stomach (or lower).

And, at this point, in the US anyway, everyone knows what you mean when you do it that way.

It’s overtly a dog whistle. Just as two fingers or the middle finger raised with the back of the hand facing another person isn’t just a random finger configuration.

Signs and words have meaning, and when they are intentionally used to convey certain abhorrent meanings, it’s permissible to call it out and hold people accountable for it.

No one is stopping anyone from spouting racist bile. What is happening is people doing it are being held to account for it.

Freedom of speech isn’t freedom from consequence.

Just as you can’t expect to walk in to a pub and start screaming insults at every bloke in the place without there being some reaction.

People that bandy about “the world has become too politically correct” are very often the ones that just want to be able to say or do whatever they want without consequence.

i actually read the story about the "ok sign" thinking bloody typical, however when you read into it,it isnt the ok sign,it is done upside down to the ok sign, i read about a person getting sacked for it,it shown a picture of the person stood with a young black girl, to say he got sacked for the ok sign is just hiding the point,ill try and find the picture.

after reading what the ok sign was upside down it made sense,the 3 fingers symbolize the W the circle symbolizes the P =WP white power, however i have seen that it was a made up sign from 4chan to get prank the media(for whatever reason)
