DC United staff member sacked for making hand gesture

Not really sure why the "you can't say anything anymore" brigade are freaking out about this. Nobody's going to be sacking anyone or locking anyone up for giving a genuine ok hand gesture. But regardless of whether or not you are aware or care, it IS being used as white power symbol now and especially in the US. I imagine the club will have a good idea of the spirit in which it was intended as I doubt it's something that's happened in isolation.

These days you get arrested and thrown in jail if you say you're English.

Oh how the heart longs for the simple times of the 70s. Life was just better wasn't it?

National Front on the march beating up black and asian people. Violence in the terraces. The Three Degrees and co getting monkey noises from the stands. Southall riots.

IRA blowing things up every other week. Bloody Sunday, Mountbatten etc. hundreds dead, thousands wounded.

The Oil crisis, 3 day week, rolling blackouts, miners' strikes. Enoch Powell the conservative party's poster boy.

Vietnam, Yom Kippur war, Iranian revolution, Soviet Russia.

If you ask me this country started going downhill when they passed the Equal Pay Act in 1970. Women earning the same as men for the same job? We just couldn't come back from that.

There was nothing complicated like LGBT pride or gay marriage.

Things were just so simple back then, it's definitely not got anything to do with rose tinted glasses looking back at your youth. If only we could somehow get back to those times.
Absolutely brilliant response!!!

If you think that's all the 70's stand for then you've lived a pretty miserable life, let's cancel the decade eh? :)

Are you a glass half empty type?
