Manchester. Always will be.
Is he really needed on nights like tonight? Against the big guns fine, but when he went off we had two up front and looked like we could cope more then well enough without him.

Yes I know the game was stretched, we were one up, swansea arent the best etc etc but if he wasnt there and another striker played would we really have come under any pressure?

We have a squad now and the team should be picked to win matches - NDJ wasnt need tonight and it looks like he might have an injury now

Nige or Barry really wasn't needed. He played tonight to get fitness, he clearly isn't fit. Unlike Aguero and others, he didn't train extensively for his country.

Made some important tackles, kept us solid and stopped Swansea from breaking away. Was needed IMO we took him off we Swansea we tired and we went for the kill.

The tactics were perfect.

YES! We need nigel, he broke play up when needed and added steel to the midfield. When swansea started to tire, that's when Bobby unleashed more attacking play.

So if De Jong didnt play and we played another striker you think we may have struggled to cope with Swansea attacks?

I think he is even more vital in a 4 man midfield than Barry. Barry and Yaya would be over run so if we use 2 strikers I would rather see De Jong in that midfield.

I think he will be used more sparingly this season. I certainly think he'll get subbed a lot more.

Last season Roberto would have brought Vieira on for Nige when we went 1-0 up. This season I think we will go a lot more attacking when we're in the lead. We are going to draw much fewer games and rip some teams apart.

NO.

NDJ is better defender but Barry and Milner are better ball player. De Jong can only do one job ( defending) while Barry and Milner can do many things.

Ok, well would you rather go in against Swansea at home or Bolton away with NDJ?

It looks though we might not have him against Bolton. Say we didnt play a striker then and played Milner would we not have won that game - surely we should have.

I agree that in games like this he is not needed. Toure could do that job equally as well as the role he plays and still be a threat at set pieces and going forward on breaks. Nige offers nothing going forward and no height in defence.

He will come into his own in Champions league and against the bigger clubs at home and all teams away but I would say he is not required against anyone at home from the top 8 down.

We need to get better at rotating anyway and now he has the squad he wants I am sure we will see more of this.

I agree completely. In games like this we need either Barry or De Jong but not both. I'd personally play Barry because he uses the ball better

This is not slagging off De Jong as he is still vital in the big games and away from home
