Yes we did.
Start him in every game

We could have over 60 games - no player will play every game, even Hart.
When you state it like that your right. What I mean is he is in my first 11 and any game he is fit I would have him in the team.

Yes but personally I dont think we need him to beat Swansea at home. We need him a lot more to beat Bolton away from home.

YES! We need nigel, he broke play up when needed and added steel to the midfield. When swansea started to tire, that's when Bobby unleashed more attacking play.
I agree. he was arguably our best player when it was 0-0, he set the platform from DM. He was winning headers, slide tackles, put his body in the right places, made good passes. Exactly what we need when the game is tight. When we start to go through the gears as a team either he or Barry can then come off as we go for more goals (something we didn't do last season, and we only scored 60 goals all last season!) (but that's exactly what we did tonight, and I reckon we'll do when we feel we can go for teams all season!).

But without him on the pitch at 0-0 when both teams are cagey and the game could go either way (Swansea played very well at 0-0, and 4-0 was a bit harsh on them!), I don't think we stop them progressing through the game or set a base to go on and attack well ourselves.

Most definitely yes!! Get rid of Barry, I fookin hate watching him play. As much as I hate him, I would even say that Barry had flashes of great play today and he did hit the bar, and he will be an important player at times this season.

NDJ was everywhere as usual first half, and very vital all season in front of the defence. I really think Mancini may go with a back four place ndj and then start Aguero and Dzeko in front of Silva Yaya and prolly Nasri (although we're hearing now its gone quiet again so not positive) or Milner.

NO.

NDJ is better defender but Barry and Milner are better ball player. De Jong can only do one job ( defending) while Barry and Milner can do many things.

Nonsense, when Barry was mis passing every ball in that twenty minute spell when swansea had there tails up it was Nidge that was winning the ball back putting a foot on it and picking out a short simple pass that starts the play off. There is a lot more to this boys game than the ruff and tumble he is well known for, he is in a different class to Barry and as for Milner, I wouldnt even mention him in the same breath (has he ever had a good game for city?). Check Nidge out on youtube for Ajax to see what he is capable of.

Haven't watched the game on TV/screen yet but from where I was sat De Jong was making crucial tackles and everyone was applauding him.

Need him starting every game. Keep clean sheet in first half then sub him off and attack in the second, I can certainly live with that.

Mancini says in post match reaction that he took a kick on his feet, and we will know more tomorrow

Having NDJ in the side gives the midfield some real bite, and thats NEVER a bad thing.
When he went off Yaya played a deeper, less free role, and we need to allow him some freedom to play higher up and burst forward.

Oh, and the people who cant see what Barry does for the team need to open their eyes.

De Jong was quick to break anything up that came near him or the defense with brilliant tackles and interceptions. He also spread the ball wide quite a lot to move on an attack with some very good passes, similarly he was playing a bit higher at times to stem a counter attack and would immediately give it to a player in a decent attacking position.
His movement off the ball was also great because he moved in to positions where a defender or attacker could pass to him, release the pressure and spot a pass/through ball(such as Clichy I noted a few times). That to me is not a one dimensional game.

Did we need him? We would have only known had we gone in to the game with him on the bench, but him and Barry were superb tonight. Tougher tests lie ahead but they did their objectives and more tonight.

I think he will be used more sparingly this season. I certainly think he'll get subbed a lot more.

Last season Roberto would have brought Vieira on for Nige when we went 1-0 up. This season I think we will go a lot more attacking when we're in the lead. We are going to draw much fewer games and rip some teams apart.

completely agree
