Rodwell for me was brought in to fill up our future English player requirements.

Rodwell is one of the brighter England stars and was probably looked at being bought now rather than later.

If it comes to a Summer in the future and one of the priority signings would have to be an English player to fill requirements, we would not want City to just buy for the sake of it and get a Henderson for example. That is why Rodwell has been bought now - thinking ahead.

I know with City being an English club but this English player requirements is ridiculous.

No way Rodwell was top of Mancini's transfer list in my opinion, I really do not know what is going on with transfers but we seriously need to be making some good editions around CM and CB!

Depends how things shake out. We might need both of them in a year or two with Nige possibly leaving and Barry age 31.

Only way I can see it working if Nige is sold to Inter this summer, however our midfield would still be overcrowded IMO for them all to get the game time they want with the signing of Rodwell.
 
Not many players that would add to our squad but this lad is most certainly in that category.He would provide cover at CB (save a lot of messing around with Agger) compliments Yaya perfectly , and would make a solid midfield with either De Jong or Barry in January.

Lot of cups to play for , players missing for African nation , Barry still injured ...theres room for De Jong unless he wants to leave.
 
Sounds like everyone is getting a bit carried away there is little to say we are even interested in him just now, sadly I don't think he is an option. Saying that I dont have a clue who the club are after as there is nothing supported on any deals being close for any player.

Our owners seem quite good at keeping some things under wraps tbh..

so much so that the selling team and the player doesn't know either and so signs elsewhere
 
I just can't see this happening. I really hope I am wrong. If it were up to me I would make them an offer they could not refuse, and I am not talking about 27m I would pitch it at 40m GBP see what they do then. If this player was the only player we sign for the rest of the window I would be content.
 
is this interest offical ? or is this just a rumour started by the bluemoon fifa club

Don't be silly. How would that affect other City players? We need stability and good team morale not more divas.

Anyone else think £25.000.000 for a 29 year old who's 30 in a few months is a joke ? Let the rags make stupid investments. Why we arent doing whatever we can to keep Nigel I don't know. Will seriously affect squad harmony if he leaves.

I think this stems from all the flights to and from Italy by our suits this summer and the fact Mancini is known to be a great admirer of De Rossi.

I have not seen anything resembling planned leaked quotes from the club or any official approaches though.
 
4 year contract and agree to sell him back to Roma so he can finish off his career there,they play til they are about 47 in italy anyways.
 
Bobby is a long standing admirer of De Rossi and wants to have his babies... which is good enough for me.
