Anyone else think £25.000.000 for a 29 year old who's 30 in a few months is a joke ? Let the rags make stupid investments. Why we arent doing whatever we can to keep Nigel I don't know. Will seriously affect squad harmony if he leaves.

Not at all.

I would put a £15m bid on his beard alone.

That beard is an abomination. We must not sign him until he shaves it off.

I agree. You may be a win or a rag but on this point I agree. The player may be excellent but age should reduce the price significantly. Utd paid way too much for their 29 year old. We shouldn't do the same.

Plus Nigel is darn good at what he does.

I suspect the club may be stuck in a catch 22, Nigel's agents want top wages and Roma want a huge transfer fee. Which I'd the worse evil.

lol, has the rules of the ban-hammer changed since TH left? Or has the goal-posts now moved to 31st August? :)

I am just hoping that we are not becoming too blinkered in our approach to this transfer. All very well posters on here getting giddy up and trotting out the link to the Italian Journalist, but we haven't seen anything to get the bit between our teeth as yet. Of course the Rodwell signing came out of the blue, and this one might just when things are looking glum the cavalry might just come to the rescue in the form of DDR. :-)

He has just turned 29 so if by a few months you mean 11 and a half months you are correct.

Why are you still here Mr "Agger has signed" do you think we have just forgotten? At least have the decency to pretend you are someone else.

Please be true

What be true?

To be honest I have seen nothing that even makes this a "solid rumour" apart from some Italian hack who no one on here has ever heard about, for all we know he could be the Italian version of our red top reporters, i.e. just makes things up to fill in column inches

I think that he is just one of the footballers that causes serotonin to be released in our brains that we have gotten addicted to over the past 3 years. Now that the club has taken our needles away from us this summer we'll do anything for that fix.

You make a very good point and something I suspect has been happening on the forum in general this close season, we are used to having really good signing over the last few years, and have gotten a little greedy, with it looking likely that there will be no big acquisitions this season people are starting to get withdrawal symptoms

I'm sure we'd all love this to be true but you are right there is so little cause for over optimism - there is only one journo linking us - not sure how reliable he is, so whilst we are probably working on something there are no leaks so it literally could be anyone - DDR is just a name we as fans would like; to put this into perspective who would have thought wed buy Rodwell and be linked to Sinclair. On the basis that we may need to sell before we buy it could be a case that we have to seriously contemplate not signing anyone other than Rodwell (and perhaps Sinclair) on the basis that we seem to be up against it moving people out.
