If he had an attitude issue, we wouldn’t be trying to get him to sign a new, hugely improved deal, and Bayern wouldn’t be going out of their way to make him their record signing.

Conversely, he wouldn't have been out of the team during a "must win every game" run in and excluded from a World Cup squad if there wasn't something.

Obviously something that can be deemed "fixable", why wouldn't it be if it was an attitude thing, but it would be naive to whitewash a pretty consistent 'rumour'.
