I always thought he was a city fan!

It was Colin Little who played up front with him at Crewe who was the City fan, from Northern Moor I think! I've never heard of Ashton being a blue!

EDIT: I've just thought I might have got the name wrong, I mean the little striker who partnered Ashton at Crewe, now I'm thinking Little played for Alty!
