Dear Stevie

Stevie's body language, to me at least, looked like he didn't want to know and didn't want to get involved in the game.

Gutted really, just didn't look like he wanted to be on the pitch last night, obviously head not in right place with it all at the moment.

He had no snap or zip to his play whatsoever, second there to every ball.

Its the difference between a midfielder possibly good at one job - De Jong, Barry, Ireland and even Vieira - and a player who has real ability to change their game and the game.

Far too much of our midfield play is chasing shadows.

I counted at least 5 times he put on the brakes in midfield to pull out of a challenge.

Yes you're right re Arteta, he has Pienaar & Cahill who give him great support

we are missing one midfielder I think.

Barry needs someone different than D Jong and De Jong needs someone different than Barry. This is clearly obvious. Put a more positive influential midfielder alongside either of those and we would be in top 4 and secure by now.

Ireland? Game over I think :(

Dont even think he should have been picked last night!

A gamble that didnt pay off!!

Dont know why the same team that beat Fulham was not picked!

Having said that the lads worked hard and the ref did not help although dont think we created many clearcut chances!!

Not having Rocky on from start was the error, wouldn't surprise me if it was because he wasn't fit enough to start 2 games in such a short space of time however he should have started whilst we got a foothold in game and brought him off earlier.

He shouldn't play again this season.

Oh, did you see the (now deleted) thread from someone claiming to have spoken to Ireland on Facebook? Piss funny! Wish i'd got the name of the OP because I could have a fucking field day with him this time next week!

Missed that thread, any pointers as to what was 'discussed'?

haha, the OP copied and pasted a conversation on 'chat' which was between him and 'Ireland'. Then he posted an email from 'Ireland' which read along the lines of he is going to sign for Barca and not for us to worry because we get Toure YaYa in exchange. hahahahahhahahahaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahhaahahaha. Can't wait to tell him about the tooth fairy next Thursday.

If it happens i'm knocking all my teeth out so I can get rich!

The actual story has some legs, though he'd be warming that catalan bench for the majority of his stay. Its the gullible way the OP genuinely thought he was openly talking with Ireland though which made me shake my head in total disbelief. Didn't think people were that silly!

I blame D.D for stating a 70 page thread which left Mancini no other option but to start him.
Total fucking disaster.

Ha ha that actually crossed my mind when I saw the starting line up as it was the only reason I could think why Stevie was in the team!! PMSL

Ireland wasnt good but he wasnt playing in midfield, he was too far up the pitch and looked lost to me. Hes our one creative spark, the only through ball that went through last night was him to Tevez and like i say hes not even playing well. I think you need to play him through his bad form and not persecute a young acadamy player whos always tried for us and was player of the season last season.

All joking aside I was impressed with Ireland last night, I've never seen an injured player run off the pitch so fast.

thing is, after every performance, there are posts saying 'he was too high up the pitch'. or 'too deep'. or 'he is lost out on the right'. I don't think it's fair to judge him last night, it was over before it began for him, but he's got the right skills to play any of these roles.
