Declan Rice

This is how we’ve done business for a while now and it’s worked out well.
We have our valuation and if it goes beyond we move on.

Maybe I’m naive to what Rice could offer but the numbers did seem silly for what I see him as - will be interesting to see how he gets on if he goes to Arsenal.

I have no problems with City walking away. No drama needed either. Huge pressure on Arsenal next season. City won the treble with stones in midfield. Let’s not act like twats. We destroyed Arsenal last season and now they have won a little victory after city pushed the price up.

Good player and one we could have been doing with but we will move on. The world of football is quite big with lots of players able to join city and make an impact.

We've failed to get his two top targets, he's going to be a little disappointed, like khaldoon said in the interview Peps already thinking about next season, he wanted one of those and he hasn't got either.

We have missed out on his targets before but we've then got plan B, this time we've missed out on plan A and Plan B.

fair fucks to City sticking to our valuation the offer was a respectable one despite the hammers ridiculing it.

The obvious thing for me is City clearly believe they need another high calibre midfielder despite signing Kovacic. Will we look at another player or does history show we will go with what we have?!
Agree we are definitely right to stick with our valuation. The price seems mad and there will be better players than Rice that represent better value.

I get that it’s smarts a little at the moment and this feels like a loss. History tells us that we are rarely wrong in these affairs.

I agree that we have identified an area that needs some strengthening. Will will do that in due course, maybe sooner, maybe later. One thing for sure is that we will not panic or rush. We will take a considered approach and get it right.

Arsenal’s erratic bidding smells of panic.. it’s not our way these days.

This is a great point; it puts major pressure on them from the get go in a different way to last season.

They are a really good team but they had a bit of an anomaly for half a season where they trended for 100 points and then they defaulted to their average.

Havertz and Rice really good signings for them though given where their weak spots were.
And it's not just the money. If Partey leaves and they get Rice for the 6, Xhaka has left and it looks like they want Havertz for the 8 (?), those are two HUGE positions in this system. The way City have generally done it for those types of spots is a gradual handover or with other players that can play the position. I don't think Arsenal have that and i think it's gonna be a mini-miracle if those two immediately hit the ground running.

Let’s be honest, Ake/Gvardiol will probably step up in that position if needed, and that’s assuming Phillips doesn’t play. I’d rather bring Lavia back, even if we loaned him out for another 12 months. Get a CAM/CM who’s decent defensively.

I think we have been here before, if reports are correct we went for McGuire and Koulibaly before we settled on Dias because we weren’t prepared to be rinsed. Look how those two did compared with Dias

Common sense prevailed. 105 million for a squad player doesn't stack up.

No doubt everybody that was chomping at the bit for him to come to us will now remarkably do an about turn and say they never really rated him anyway.

I keep seeing this… he’s on £600k pw, no chance we will ever sign a player like that lol
Hes not on 600k a week. His contract was leaked a while ago. I wanna say it was 220k but could be wrong. The issue is with Barca and defered wages. They owe him (and a load of others) a shit ton and if he (they) move they would forfiet it from what I remember. I reallt dont know why players seem to wanna still go to them under their current guise. Flase promises then screw you over.
