With lescott kompany was on top of his game and one of the best players in the team but since he's been playing with toure he's looked very nervy and always looks likely to fluff a kick, like he did a couple of times in the derby. This isn't to do with toure playing bad because i feel he is playing well but they are both right footers and kompany is now having to play on the left, this shows the importance of having a left footer for a centre back and why we are such a better team with lescott. Also in my opinion garrido is a lot better than bridge at left back, neither are good enough but garrido is better.

I really don't think Garrido is better than Bridge at defending. I agree that neither are good enough though. I reckon we need a right back, a left back and a centre half in the summer. Oh, and at least one creative midfielder, possibly a left winger (especially if johnson continues on the right) and a striker. Apart from that we're ok, although I did see someone was saying they wanted a new keeper in another thread!

Next season our central defence will be Joleon Lescott and Jerome Boateng. (who will sign from from Hamburg)

I agree with those saying VK and Lescott looked good together.
We have to remember that this season the defence has been obliterated by injury and had little chance to build settled partnerships. I can't remember a season when we have been as badly hit by absence across the team as this one.

IMHO Toure makes everyone feel nerveous as he just is not good enough, takes too many risks and puts pressure on his defensive colleagues by the way he flaps, makes stupid decisions, gets out of position and misses tackles.mcfcjosh said:

Let's get rid of our entire squad and buy a new one. VK and JL are more than good enough to be our partnership at the back. Look at the top 3 and tell me you would swap swap them. Those partnerships have won trophies this season and done ok in Chumps league yet i think ours could be better than any of those

Lescott and Kompany had the best centre back partnership.. I've been very worried about Toure from day 1.. Bridge on the left and Onouha on the right.. i'd maybe move Onouha to centre back to see how he can do.. but unsure who to swop him for?
