TBH I am amazed the club would allow him to go if they had an inkling he was injured given the problems we have had in the past.
It must be precautionary.

I don't think the club can stop a player joining up with his country if the country insists on it. Even if the player is injured, the national association can call him up and have their medical people examine him.
