I see what you are saying, but think about the type of teams they play in. Di Maria has 9 other field players around him that are some of the best in the world in a two team league. That opens up a LOT of space, time and opportunity. Lavezzi plays with 2 other players that might get into the Real Madrid 25 man roster in a 6 or 7 team league. I would like to see what someone like Lavezzi could do with 9 other players around him.

I think your argument is valid. I actually reviewed De Marria statistics in terms of number of games versus goals scored during his time in Benfica, it reads as 76 games and 10 gaols. Probably you are right

De Maria: Played: 236, Scored: 36, Assists: 59
Lavizzi: Played: 310, Scored: 87, Assists: 63

He's not weak.

I don't like the dives though, you're right.

But let's face it. This bloke is a better dribbler than C. Ronaldo. His passes and crosses are exceptional and he's one of the reasons Ronaldo scores so much. Granted, Ronaldo doesn't need Di Maria :P.

FIrstly, Di Maria is younger and a much faster, tricky winger
Secondly, his incredible service + Dzeko's clinical finishing = goals galore

Younger, faster, better service, but the 2 most important reason why I'd take Di Maria is 1) he works extremely hard defensively and 2) He has plays on a team that dominates possession and often has to play against packed defenses.

For this reasons I'd take Di Maria, even though I find his playing style annoying :(
