Did Hughes settle for the point?

Your views Guys, I was sitting in the Trinity Road stand last night, just above the dug outs, just before Bellamy scored, Hughes had RSC and Petrov ready to come on, for Tevez and SWP.
After Bellamy scored Petrov sat down and put his track suit back on.
I honestly thought that Villa were there for the taking after we equalised, and putting Petrov on for an ineffective SWP may just have swung it our way. Was Hughes just happy to hold on to a point?
