@City_Watch: Mundo Deportivo: Pellegrini is considering a move for imposing Atlético Madrid & Brazil striker Diego Costa (24) who had a breakout season.

Any good?

If the price is right then Costa could be a decent alternative. Not quite a clinical finisher but is a physical player.

Here is the original article <a class="postlink" href="http://www.mundodeportivo.com/20130619/atletico-madrid/pellegrini-se-fija-en-diego-costa-para-el-manchester-city_54375767190.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.mundodeportivo.com/20130619/ ... 67190.html</a>

20 goals and 15 assists in 44 games last season is a fantastic return for someone who was a foil for Falcao. At a good age as well (not 25 until October). From what little I've seen of him he seems to be a 'bull in a china shop' kind of forward, quite physical and energetic, although feel free to correct me on that. 6ft 2 so he's a big fucker who isn't afraid to throw his weight around, something that Dzeko has been criticised for not doing in physical games, given his attributes.

Atlético would be very reluctant to sell though I'd imagine, given they've already lost Falcao. How much do we reckon he'd set us back (or does he have a release clause)?

And does he track back?

I saw Atlético Madrid play this season against my local team Osasuna, and the standout player was not Falcao (who I was at that point imagining he would be playing blue next season), but this guy.

Perhaps it wasn't representative of the whole season, but in that game Costa was the better player, and I think in Spain it has been recognised that he has had a great season. He's very aggressive, but I don't think he's a tool in the vein of Rooney, van Persie etc. As for being Brazilian, I think he would have no problem whatsoever fitting into the Prem, because as I said he's a very strong player who won't go down at the slightest push. In fact, I think he will probably do the pushing...

I think this could work, you know.

I just said in the Cavani thread, Costa joining would have a "Bellamy" feel about it with a lot of groaning... but he could be good foil for Aguero. Defenders would hate playing against him, he is a nasty bastard who puts himself around, but can actually control and hold up the ball well. An unfashionable but potentially effective signing. Lots of yellow cards though.

...and a lot of red cards!
He is much worse than Balo.

Not really... he got 1 red card last season and La Liga averages about 3x more yellow/red cards than the Premier League. He's a snide bastard but has the knack of avoiding the red card after getting yellows (13 yellows and his 1 red was in a separate game).

We'd probably would have been better with Hulk? But we burnt that bridge with the "YOURE NOT INCREDIBLE!" chant!

Yep. 44 appearances probably accounts for around 80% of their fixtures last season, given they only have one domestic cup. Hardly Cattermole-esque.
