Occupational therapy have recommended me for a DFG for a wetroom conversion.

Has anyone any experience of having a DFG and can share that in terms of how long and complex was the process, did you get what you expected etc

Thanks in advance

I looked at council grants but didn't bother in the end. Seemed like a very complicated process.

My brother had 3 strokes and got vascular dementia.
He's on a waiting list for a walk in bathroom.
The waiting list is atleast 2 years. That Tameside council.

Sorry to hear that about your brother and hope he is doing well. The council here (South Lakes) assess eligibility and if approved source two quotes from companies to do the works. They pay them directly

From the OT report to the work complete you are probably looking 12 months in a good year, depends on the authority and if it was given standard or urgent priority by the OT. Some do quicker, but others run out of money every year, but there is a shortage of tradesmen too. The OT is the bottleneck in a lot of place, so at least you are past that bit.

It isn't lawful to have a waiting list for DFGs, it is a priority list.

South Lakes Council ended in ceased to exist 2.5 years ago. Tameside are shockingly backwards, full of lifers who act like it is 1996.

I won't go into too much detail but totally agree with you regarding Tameside Adult services especially the so-called carers that do as little as possible.
He as 8 different carers but only 2 of them seem to care.
