I just don't have any words left that can describe what is developing before my eyes watching City with MP in charge. Making a 41 year very happy and even better seeing my 5 year old lad absolutely buzzing and all he can think and talk about is how City are playing.

Cheers Mr. Sheikh and all execs and a massive Thank you to Manuel Pelligrini and his staff

It's all about holistic. I so hope he is rewarded with trophies.

That's how I feel, cm. it's like every week we go up another little notch-in every way. Togetherness, passing, finishing, ruthlessness, stamina, aggression, pressing,defending...they've progressed at different paces as the seasons gone on but they are all coming together now to make a 'whole' which is breathtaking. And we can get better.

I'm going to say it for about the thirtieth time in three years. A great manager makes his team greater than the sum of its parts. To see that before your very eyes, and with the quality of our parts, is just incredible.

The best move that Adug ever made was the appointment of soriano and txiki. They are at the heart of this. The leap in class from Cook and co is a canyon.

Are we playing the best football the Premier League has seen? We have to be up there, along with the Arsenal sides with Viera, Pires, Henry etc.
We were unbelievable last night- to think that was, at the time, a 2nd vs 5th clash. The chasm between us was phenomenal. A 10 nil wouldn't have flattered us. I can not believe how good Sergio was last night whilst he is on- that 44 minutes was the best I have ever seen someone play, live. I am not sure Ronaldo or Messi could have looked better than he did in that 44 minutes. As I read in a paper this morning- he looked like scoring every time he had the ball at his feet.
Silva was at his best too, as was everyone in fact. Clichy had a brilliant game too, re finding his pace, and the incredible knack to intercept passes and start attacks. What a performance.

... ! ... ! ...
I'm just trying to imagine an inform Negredo to play instead of Dzeko, and Aguero staying on for 90plus minutes last night. And a decent referee.

On topic:
Instead of playing our best 11 (if we do have a best 11) we so far had to cope with injuries to Silva, Kompany, Aguero, three players that can not be replaced properly. Evenso Pellegrini got the squad playing as if we don't miss them. With a smile on their faces. Working their socks off. And not a moan to be heared.

Holistic by all means.

It's amazing the controversies on this board about these two, but it has proven to be exactly how you've said it. They both deserve a hell of a lot of the credit.

Fully agree mate.

Funny how things change.. The day he came i said he was going to be top class. after the first 5-6 games people where on his back. Have faith and it will come through like dzeko.
It was the 4 v 6 and sometimes 7 in midfield thing against Bayern at home, and the fact he didn't change it until 75minutes when the game was lost, that really stuck with me for a good while. I couldn't get over how naive it was. It wasn't that i wasn't impressed with everything else about him, because i was, but i was worried that in the tight games and games where the oppositions tactics were a bit different to standard 442/4321/4231/4132 formations his tactics would be too naive for us to be dominant and that's why he'd never won a trophy in Spain. You can't really blame anyone for feeling that way after that neither.

I think some of the football we're playing now is superb. I actually think we're still working towards where Pellegrini wants us to be and aren't as good as we will end up being. I think next season we could go and do a 100pts+ season. This season we may very well end up winning the league and it's only his first season with us so there are some good times ahead with Pellegrini (but there is still Bayern at home burning away at me sometimes, hopefully it was just a one-off!)

Fully agree with both. It's criminal how under appreciated he is. I expect it to change after last night though, this is majestic stuff. I think European football could be in for a huge shock, we are the real deal.

cuz hes always been the bride's maid and not the bride.. Where ever he has gone something always happened to deny him the trophy.. Barcelona retarded table tally (while he led Madrid to their highest). His Malaga side getting cheated out of the champs league final or semi cant recall. Every team he has been all the players love the guy and the fans. Hopefully all should be good he has the squad and the money + his skills it should all fall into place now.

It seems a lot of the media are finally starting to give Manuel some praise. Its not just about the squad but the way he plays them with freedom and the noticeable team spirit he has installed. Mourinho must be shitting himself! I think the formation he chooses is key, always a 442 but with a few tweaks.

I have noticed though that there seems to be a few comments about how Manuels attacking style is so different from Mancinis. It is a lot more dynamic and we don't shut up shop as much but they seem to forget we weren't exactly Stoke under Mancini. We have played some of our best football ever under Mancini. I think maybe Manuel taking the team on from Mancini is a key factor. Mancini improved a lot of the players but now they feel they can express themselves more and be more relaxed.

Things are so good at the moment and he deserves so much credit, nice for him to give us a wave as well last night (took long enough)!!! The team came onto the pitch and looked bang up for it, Kompany was absolutely outstanding, he rallies each and every one of his players, he took control of people when tempers were raised at times in the first half and he really is a great ambassador both for the club and for Pellegrini on the pitch.

I have to say that credit must go to Pellegrini for having such a big impact so quickly. He is a credit to the club. We have played some outstanding and unforgettable football and last night was a real statement, we had the chance to go top and we took it and coupled with that, Chelsea failed to win. Brilliant.

We could have had Mourinho, someone so vocal when things are good or bad. I don't hear him talking about us now so much? Perhaps if he put the effort he expends on talking about other teams and managers, onto his own team, they would be better.

He has called Wenger up on his constant complaining, he has belittled Pellegrini and he has tried to play mind games. He takes his Chelsea side to the swamp and plays for a draw, and at the Emirates. Meanwhile West Ham do the same, and he talks about it being 19th century football and bad for the game. Who is moaning now?

It is great to have a manager that is respectful. That will admit to mistakes should they be made. Who looks to the long term. And who gets results. Pellegrini has turned this City side into a European powerhouse. We have beaten Bayern and are doing so well in the league, it really is taking our exposure to the next level, and for footballing reasons, not financial and that is exactly what we needed.

The crazy thing is, this season is transitional. It is his first season with the players, and he has managed to impose the philosophy of pressing up the pitch, winning the ball and looking to get forward quickly already. I must say Fernandinho is an absolute star in midfield, he knows when to press and he makes sure he gets the ball and doesn't lose out. He is piecing the whole thing together.

An absolute joy to watch! Long may it continue!

Got to admit it that my reservations about Manuel and how he sets up defensively have been totally proved wrong, the balance in this side is unbelievable, every single player has improved under his stewardship, to a man last night they all shook his hand with big smiles on there faces, he's a father figure to the whole club, amazing amazing football.

Hanson was right last night on MOTD, we are at present the best team in the World on current form.

I'm fucking speechless to be honest at how this club is evolving, we are becoming a monster, but a humble gracious monster with a manager that will go down in this clubs history as the best we have ever had.

na i agree with you good point about that munich game. This guy is legit. he will take us to the next level imo. and i think he will be important in keeping the spanish contingent on board. They all respect him big time.

Manny is doing the business. This City team is a thing of beauty and a joy to watch.
I had to LOL when the comment on BT tonight was: City are the best team in Europe........except for Munich.........and Barcelona! Yes it is almost a Coleman ball but is still a backhanded compliment.

Best in the world according to Hansen...
And best on the planet according to Sherwood....

We now need to prove it with some silverware

I'm still not sure how many gears this team has got but we will find out in the coming months.

I need to watch the BT coverage of the game to double check that we were as good as I thought we were at the Lane.

Me as well mate.

Like you say, we are seeing something truly special being built by Pellegrini, Ferran and Txiki with the help of HRH Mansour ;-).

Pellegrini has got the whole squad buzzing, hungry to win every game. Kompany's attitude after the match was telling. Some clubs would be delirious at winning 5-1 away from home at Spurs, but Vinnie commented that "i still feel that when we go 3 or 4 nil up, we lose concentration for 10 minutes. If we can cut that out, we can get better." Something along those lines anyway. I loved it, because i was thinking it myself. I sensed that we'd allow Spurs a consolation goal, we stopped pressing, stopped attacking with pace... only for 10 minutes but it was enough to result in us conceding against 10 men. One of these days we'll put together a game where we're on it for 90 minutes and it will be utterly devastating.

Marriner aside, the first 25 mins of the game are without doubt, the best ive ever seen from any side and no, it isnt blue specs either. We were that fucking good.

When they went to 10 men, the way we controlled the game was also very special. Keep ball the order of the day but never aimless and always with a view to cutting them open again and creating a scoring chance.

We had 656 passes last night and 66% possession that led to 21 shots and 10 being on target.

Thats away at Spurs ;-)

I literally said before Spuds won the corner they scored from... "Concentrate City, do not concede now - a clean sheet is important". Set pieces we struggled with and it is just a lack of concentration. Needed to dig in when we were under the cosh a bit and we played a bit sloppily at times. But the players acknowledge it and Kompany is spot on. Absolutely fantastic to have a captain so grounded.
