Ok with that tonight.
Would liked to have seen Iheanacho get 10 minutes, but overall a decent performance.
Not sure why the hipster was motm though?
Because he blotted out Lukaku? Who else played well?

That was really poor. I am surprised you are happy with that. We had a decent 15 minutes spell midway in the 2nd half but that was it.

"We don't need another striker, we have Kelechi."

"He (Kelechi) needs to prove himself now".

Unbelievable.

May take some stick for this but...

When I saw the team selection I was skeptical of our engine room but I think Pellegrini anticipated this match well. Everton's away form really isn't bad at all, and they play a good counter attack. Had they set up to try and destroy the midfield battle, then Fernando and Toure could have been in trouble, but as Pellegrini expected, they conceded the centre to maintain their solid away record.

Sterling really helped make the system work, with his switches between midfield and striker areas. He was often coming deep for our midfield to set off attacks with, but would sometimes stretch play if on the opposite side to the football, making more room for Aguero and the midfield to operate. Aguero worked well in this regard also.

When out of possession, there was some signs of concerted, pressure on the ball carrier in our own half, which was good to see. (Sadly not enough, but still worth crediting.)

All in all, I think Pellegrini got this one right, tactically, but our finishing has let us down. (all credit to Tim Howard and the Everton defense who've been solid on their travels.) Unlucky City.

I was talking to cookster not you sunshine.

A league and cup double if that's all he won will see him go away as one of our greatest ever managers in my book.

You obviously feel differently.

If he leaves with just the two trophies he will have achieved what most semi competent managers could have done given that we have had 9 winnable domestic trophies under his stewardship.

Was Bob semi competent then if that's the yard stick?

The thing is, I don't care about any "greatest ever" kind of stuff. How many of our previous managers have had the money and squad Pellergini has?

Plus yesterday's goal doesn't win tomorrow's match. You cannot live off past achievements when there's been 18 months of dross for a side of our supposed quality with only the odd games here and there thrown in where you say we looked like a top side.

We are boring to watch. My SeasonCard has doubled in price in four years and we're actually not as good to watch and not as good as side as we've had, say, three years ago.

Crying out for 442.

Is Pellegrini really going to persist with Toure in midfield? Everton weren't competing tonight. They were just content to drop behind the ball. So if he can't make an impact tonight then when will he? It is annoying when we are playing with just one striker and have two wide men putting crosses in and no one from midfield arrives in the box.

And Silva can't play with De Bruyne? Why did we buy him?

It's crying out for Kelechi and Aguero to play together. Or Sterling and Aguero.

Agree but i will quantify my post by saying they have both been fantastic for us as a club at a time when we needed them to do exactly what they did.

Pep is the next level and i for one cant wait.

Fair point but I think both managers could have done better with what they had but I certainly think you would have to both a pass mark.

You are right although its stating the obvious that MP's time with us would be slightly soured if we were not to win the title this year.

He hasn't got the best out of us to date as 12-4-5 would indicate and we have played some poor games in that lot but still has 17 games to get us over the line.

Tonight was more frustrating than anything else.

I thought we were the better side overall but we couldn't find the net as were just not clinical enough when opportunities presented themselves.

5 years ago most of us would have taken two titles but our expectation levels have risen for a variety of reasons.

I think we should have replaced MP in the summer but if Pep was nailed on to come after his three years at Bayern then fair enough I suppose.

This will probably be one of his hardest gigs in his career if he lands the job but it seems he has the credentials to make a good fist of it.

I hope if he does then the transfer policy and targets will be set much higher than they have in terms of actually achieving those targets.

Mancini took over a top 8 side leaking goals for fun and turned them into champions and FA cup winners. Pellegrini took over the best side in England. Completely different scenario.

If he somehow wins the league I will agree with you. Personally just don't see it happening.
