And no attempt whatsoever to avoid any of them or use young players in lesser or dead games to help take the strain. So much so that we have pretty much no idea which of our young players can do any kind of job in any kind of game in spite of many of them being at a reasonable stage in their development to have been given run outs for the past year more. Indeed the ones he is picking now are further away from tirst team level than some of the ones he has loaned out, because he has no option other than to loan them out, because he has no fucking idea whether he can use them or not because he has never even given them FIVE MINUTES between them in total.

It's 100% his fucking fault the squad is struggling. If Ferguson was in charge we would have ten more first team players able to step in for emergencies. Now he may have no choice but to play kids in the Champions League & he's loaned out better ones. Predicted months ago by a bunch of us fans, misjudged by our manager. We were right, he was wrong. He gets paid a fucking fortune to get it right.

Piss poor management
So would you prefer to not send kids on loan and keep them on the bench, playing bit-part garbage minutes, or playing every week and gaining experience?

I think that going out on loan accomplishes your overarching goal of seeing what standard they are at, while simultaneously gaining first team experience. To me, the academy is more likely to develop tons of good players who may not be good enough for city, but good enough to be sold for 5-15 million. Don't get me wrong, we will have a gems come through and make the team, but I don't believe that will be the norm. And trust me, I would love to be surprised, but that is the case of most big time clubs. Kelechi being one, which is why he is getting much more playing time this year.

4 strikers would be too much. 3 of them sat on the bench or stands each week. Bound to get pissed off and MP would feel obliged to play one of the two senior strikers ahead of Kelechi.

The only reason he is still in employment is because the candidate chosen to replace him is not yet available.Pellegrini isnt geting the best out of this squad, yes injuries and individual form have been an issue.......however,he really does himself or us no favours......as his tactics and player selection is bizarre and very often predictable, his refusal to genuinely involve youth is also infuriating as that could quite easily have gone a long way to easing our current problems, also,on a personal note......i find the man incredibly boring and one dimensional,so unless that is all an act for the wider audience.......i struggle to comprehend how he inspires and motivates his players to the level thats required. Saying all that.......i dont dislike the man as he seems a genuinely decent fella, just one who now appears out of ideas and out of his depth - its a thanks but no thanks situation for me.

I really wish he would stop giving the opposition manager the heads up of who in unavailable. Let them make all the plans in the world to cope with Sergio only to find out he's not playing 1 hour or so before kick off
At least he would be influencing games (or opposition tactics) which quite frankly, he isn't at the moment with his injuries

I have calmed down a bit since Saturday. There's no point in even thinking about sacking him at this point. As he says, we are still in every trophy. But there's no point thinking about him beyond this summer, either.

He's been treading water, at best, for a long time. He won't survive the summer whatever happens. He still wants to achieve, still wants to please the bosses. Their overwhelming goal this year is a CL Semi. Pelle is betting everything on that. And already our fate can be said to be in Juventus' hands. Not looking good, but there are many twists and turns to happen this season.

If it fails, then I think it's wrong to blame it all on him. The transfer policy has worked on the balance sheet, but of all the players bought in, just one, Fernandinho, has proved himself - he is highly useful and extremely able. Quite a few of the others don't really fit either category.

Mancini liked ego's. Dzeko is an example. A frustrating player who never quite fitted in, but one who had the character to turn the odd difficult game our way. Bony is better suited to the task on paper, but isn't doing any better for our game, and crucially, you just don't ever think he's going to pop up with a goal against the run of play. Toure is another example - his deficiencies and temperament have always been the same - but Mancini recognised them and compensated for them - he knew full well this was a guy who could win you a dozen games a season on his own.

The idea of disposing with that 'individualistic' approach was appealing, for sure. However, the execution hasn't worked. We are, if anything, more predictable in attack. Many players seem to lack confidence in launching attacks ad-hoc. They want to stick to the prescribed moves. Then you've got Aguero who just does it head down. Frankly, five goals in half an hour doesn't do much for the team compared to scoring in five games. I think De Bruyne has suffered because others aren't as responsive to attacks outside of the choreographed phases of possession.

I'm worried about Sterling and DeBruyne. They look very peripheral at times - 'small' (for want of a better word) and isolated, in a way Silva and even Navas never does. Those two look available and confident, even when Navas can't produce toffee, he looks happy to have the ball and be facing an opponent - happy to go through a few phases of possession. De Bruyne looks like he's trying to avoid ever being caught with the ball - fine to keep moving, but it looks a bit like he doesn't fancy shielding it, doesn't know where his team mates will be. We're seeing more of Sterling's shortcomings than I'd like as well. Both impressed with their defensive work-rate in the first few games, but not any more, not by a long shot. I'd also say Aguero has disappointed me in this regard. I can't recall the last time he got close enough to make a defender rush

IF it turns out we have actually kept a fair bit in the tank for the second half of the season, and we turn it on when it matters, the results are good enough so far - we are in contention. But it's a pretty big ''IF'. And 'IF' we don't achieve a leap forward in the big games, all we will have done was to practise mistakes and telegraph our weaknesses.
Tell you what that is absolutely spot on and now I see it. There is no cohesion or rythem to our play what so ever now. Aguero may come up with the odd moment of brilliance, but what we need from the lone striker he just simply can't do. If he closes down and press like suarez he will get injured. The signing of bony has to go down as possibly the worst since the takeover.

Apparently we don't have a defensive crisis and can cope without Kompany.
What next, Bony is better than Kelechi.....

Keegan had more tactically nous.

On Saturday he said we only have 13 players and it's the injuries. Now he is saying we have strength in depth and we are not missing Kompany. Also missing Kompany and Aguero is not the issue with results. The worrying thing is I am not sure he knows what the problem is and how to fix it.

He's totally lost the plot he's looking more tired and confused every time he appears on t.v! Even with all the injuries we have a half decent manager would have us top of the league and probably top of the champs lge group! I really fear for top 4 with him staying till the end of the season! And that is not a knee jerk reaction to Saturday

I agree. I like the man but feel that at this point we need a caretaker if Pep is nailed on, otherwise if things continue as they are we could end up in the Europa next season. Shame Viera has gone.

Well it's possible we win tonight and beat Swansea and then he could be a good manager by your definition.

After the opening weeks we were top, and then our best players got injured. Not squad players the like of which every team loses, but our best players and at the same time, with their deputies like Nasri, and Mangala.

Even though Silva has returned, we still have a limited group of players playing in 4 competitions and we've had to play a 35 year old defender carrying a tendon injury in defence and you see the results. We can't raise our game when the opponents do. These are real problems. There are other solutions but they are not ideal.

Tonight barring 2-3 changes its the same players, and it will be the same players on Saturday barring an unlikely recovery from Aguero so it will be Bony or Kelechi up front v Swansea. We should still win, but when you're playing away in the Premiership with this group of players, it does not surprise me that we have lost games.
