Becoming a rather predictable way to belittle Pellegrini this and ensure the man never gets any credit for anything he does. Still, I'm sure he could care less!
The ridiculous thing is that Pellegrini, Hart and others don't agree with you at all.

They think we defended poorly & didn't play very well. You are going so far out of your way to defend Pellegrini that you are effectively defending him against himself & disagreeing with his own assessment of the game, which is pretty much the same as mine.

The only difference is, I think it's his fault we struggled. He probably blames the players.

One thing's for sure, he certainly isn't pretending we actually played well.

I am not sure anyone can blame MP for the performance on Wednesday night

Many people have looked forward to the front four of Aguero, Silva, Sterling and De Bruyne so I am sure 95% or more of people on here would have picked that as their preferred front 54.

Kolarov Sagna Otamendi Demichelis had to be picked because of injuries to all our other defenders

Also Fernandinho and Yaya have played well together and I would suggest again 95% of people on here before the match would have chosen this pairing nd I am sure 100% would have picked Hart

He made substitutions that affected the game taking off Yaya who is clearly struggling with an injury so what else could the manager of done on the night?

ps its defence not defense

It's obvious we had issues at the back, so both Joe and Manuel would look rather stupid to say anything to the contrary. Just before the teamsheets were announced, I posted something along the lines of "standby for the flappers" but lo and behold, practically everyone agreed with the line up (BM fisrt maybe). Riddled with injuries, the team sort of picked itself anyway. But to lay the blame Pellers for the way the team ran around in the first half is harsh. Once he saw where it was wrong, he put it right. Not sure what else he could have done.

I just get the impression in this thread that there is a section of our fan base that believe Pep will ride into the Etihad on a white horse and we will blow every team away and win everything there is to win, so until that day happens, the see Pellers as holding us back. Some of the comments on here would have you believe we head hunted him from Hough end

I don't believe the shape or balance of the side is right. It's ridiculously top heavy, Yaya and Fernandinho don't need to maraude forward, neither do the fullbacks. What we do is often leave ourselves exposed to a counter whereby they have 5 or 6 men bearing down on our goal. In away games, there has to be a tweaked game plan, you can't expect to bring your Premier League style on the Champions League, it's naive.

You would think pellers would know this and get a balance between prem and Europe! But no! Continues the same way I mean why not give the opposition something diffrent? They expect us to set up 1 way with certain players and we never fail to disappoint them (opposition).

How many different ways do Chelsea play

Wtf has it got to do with chelsea? And how are they doing this season after teams hqve found them out? What I'm saying is not a lot of changes just ones now and again to keep the opposition guessing! Gladbach would have knew yaya was playing and targeted him and worked on it in training and also would have prepared to target our back line! Now if we would have rested yaya and played deeper there game plan is out of the window! Also you mention chelsea and that twat maureen has realised where they are being exposed and why and changed it!

The point was you are banging on about Manuel needing to change things. Read your first and last sentence

Two major problems:
1. You can't play a defensive high line with Demichalis in the team - he no longer has any pace.
2. YaYa neglects his defensive responsibilities far to often and is found out in the Champions League. This seriously compounds problem 1. You can only play YaYa in a 3 as the centre guy and build your defensive schemes around the fact he may not have got back from a jaunt up field.
The third problem (Kolarov) goes away when he has whippet Mangala to help him out.
It's as simple as that really.

When you say you can only play Yaya in a 3, where exactly do you mean and with who? For me he was playing in a 3 the other night with Fernandinho and Silva.

Yes as I was writing had chelsea in my head! But I stand by my point when we haven't our first 11 fully fit and we have to play some players that don't suit our current style of play make little changes to personnel and tactics to keep the opposition guessing!
