If Yaya isn't the same player then it's Pellegrini's fault when he doesn't react to this by changing our shape etc.
No coincidence our stellar run came when we had a shortage of strikers and had no option but to flood the midfield.

Not quite sure the "stellar run" had anything to do with "flooding the midfield." This team has looked pretty weak going forward (and defensively) all year regardless of setup. The commonality seems to be that there is little collective effort expended to retain possession once possession is lost.

Pellers flooded the midfield today despite having Aguero, Bony, and Dzeko available. And today had to be a bottom 5 performance this season as far as looking massively wank in every facet of play.

EDIT: or Dzeko not available and hurt? The point still stands.

This isn't a wind up or a fishing post. He still has a job to do let him get on with it.

You do know this is a thread to discuss Pellegrini and/or potential replacements?

Anyway, positive was the result, negative was the Manager and his lackluster team who are playing as if they know he's gone.

At least the dippers have bolted so we should be assured of 4th, let's hope we can make 3rd at least.

There is still an end of season meeting to take place.

Yep, has to go asap.

Selecting Nando, Yaya and Lampard was unreal.

We have a £30mil midfielder sat twiddling his thumbs on the bench, how must Dinho feel watching Frank in the side?

Judging the look on Khaldoon's face the cuts might go deeper than Pellegrini.

I agree,we should go back to pointlessly rotating a winning side.

More than likely they will have heads bang together the during that meeting. But they aren't going to sack Pellegrini at this stage.

Thought Special K had a face like thunder. Soriano sitting next to him looked nervous. Wouldn't be surprised if there were a few surprises.

Yeah, cos we played so superbly in beating that awesome West Ham side....

All of Txiki's greatest hits on show today getting outplayed for long periods by an average Villa team. No wonder Soriano looked nervous.

I know mate. The thought of another season of this, whilst waiting on a possible promise from Pep, makes me feel weak at the knees. We were fucking tragic again today

Agree with all that - thought Fernando was the worst by significant margin today, although Navas very frustrating too.

So now Nasri is in the dog house?
fuck holistic bullshit.

He's injured

Time to put mp out of his misery, his choice of midfield against a young fast villa team was awful.Probably one of our worst performances this season

How Fernandinho doesn't start is a mystery....? He's our most effective, complete midfielder and yet he is left on the bench in favour of lethargy and lack of ability - astonishing......

When he scored,he looked angry, like he had proved a point......and boy did he have one! An excellent cameo, and obviously one that gained us the points.

You need a lie down in a darkened room with your worry beads.

Pellegrini's seeming dislike of Fernandinho is one of this seasons greatest mysteries. Didn't have the best summer granted, but he's our most complete midfielder. If he's fit you play him.

I am now bemused that he is not staring more. Easy to say now but I would have started him ahead of Lampard.

I would have liked to see what Yaya and the two Ferns could do over a run of games.

Needs binned asap! His picking of fernando over Fernandihno is fucking baffling! And a midfield of lampard, yaya and fernando with milner and dinho on the bench?!?!? Absolutely shocking from the manager and has took the team backwards rapidly.

Meh, I can't get angry about this stuff.

We all seem to think he's gone, the players think he's gone and really his job now is to keep us in the top 3. Performances don't matter at this point and only the scores on the board do.

Let's just hope Txiki thinks he's gone or we are Donald Ducked .
