Had a few requests recently to add a dislike button to the forum, so that users can show disapproval of posts as well as being able to like them.

Just thought I'd see what people's views were on this.

Would it be a useful addition, or would it cause more problems than it's worth?

I'd love to have the option of disliking your post!

Seriously, what would it add to the forum? I can't see the benefit at all.

My view remains the same from last time you asked. Ie no ‘dislike’ button (or others for that matter). Just a ‘like’.

Got an issue with someone’s post, reply and state why. That post can get likes itself, or trigger further debate itself.

Got a serious issue with a post, eg CofC - report it.

‘Likes’ are fine, they indicate to the original poster that their post has been read and agreed with/is amusing/worthwhile doing, and don’t clutter up the forum with pages of ‘I agree’ type posts.

Keep the forum appearance clean and simple - just look at RAWK for the direness of avatars, text per poster per post they do, neverending emoji’s and a general hell of a website layout.

NB I am almost a FOC but I have used dial up on bulletin boards from early days, and have always hated ‘fluff’ on discussion platforms.

Edit: you can see, even with just ‘like’ that posters use the language of ‘ha, your post only got x likes, mine got 5x likes, proves that m right and you are wrong’ - which adds nothing to debate.
