Ditching Sky

My grandad cancelled sky and got a mx box he's fed up with this now. What's his best option? Is it a zgemma box? How safe are these?

I ditched Sky a few months back and went with an Openbox V8, this was okay but I've since upgraded to a MAG254 with an IPTV subscription, bloody brilliant. I've still got the basic Sky tv package, phone & broadband but the MAG is fantastic for movies and 3pm football as well as live football from all over Europe etc, I would definitely recommend it

What's the picture like, can you tell it's IPTV or is it like normal (even HD) telly ?

There are SD and HD channels, I watched the two games today on a Sky through the MAG box in HD with a perfect picture and no buffering etc, then watched the Valencia on Fox Sports HD Italy again a perfect picture. Then watched The Departed on the movies/video on demand. If you've got a good broadband speed then I would recommend one. I bought mine on line (not eBay) with a 12 month subscription, I suppose like everything you've got to be careful where you buy from as there will be plenty of cowboys about. If you want the link for the site I got mine from PM me.

After 18 years with Sky its time to give them the heave ho. Finally get to put my 30 days notice in tomorrow to cancel my £116 month subscription, time for a change unless they tempt me with a very very good offer.

Wife cancelled ours a couple months ago, I just saw the deal on sky q full bundle for 30pm, this is for new customers, went on money saving expert, downloaded a code and called them up. They said I was not classed as a new customer, but I managed to talk them round. £15 install then £30 a month for the 12 month contract. I was going to get a cs box and sub but it was £180 for the box that can record, then £60 for the year sub (no HD sky sports).

Just got off the phone to Sky and the 30 days notice are in, was offered a deduction from £116 to £76 per month but still way to far over what i want to pay. Looks like its BT with there 76mb broadband and £10 entertainment package for me for £54 month

Phoned em myself today. They offered me my current deal for £97/month instead of £116!
I'm happy with the broadband and phone (put off by some real scare stories with BT) but think they're taking the mickey now with the cost of football (cos that's basically their bargaining chip).

Just ditched Sky Sports. Have no need for it, rarely watch it and when I do I end up getting fucked off with it.

Saved 18 quid a month. Did the big...oh woe is me, it's so expensive etc etc and the bloke just asked if I wanted Q at a discounted rate of a tenner a month. Told them to send me the info.

Does anyone know what price can be acheived as a new joiner to sky.
Taking up the full spectrum of packages and engaging in fibre unlimited broadband with line rental and also one multi room.
And what tie in is it and will this include free installation of new dish and box.

My intentions will be to imbibe of any offer and then withdraw services at the end of contract to hopefully gain a further discount.
Any additional promotions through quidco and the like I would be all ears.

Sky are scurlious deviants in their pricing and all efforts should be made to negate their high costs.

So what would I be looking at in monetary terms.
I ask on here as normally I would feel intimadated into buying an overpriced bag of sand off Arabs just to keep them happy.
I talk the talk but sometimes fail to walk the walk when push comes to shove.

We still have a working Kirby vacumn cleaner a 10 year subscription to encyclopedia Brittanica and adozen hedgehog gutter brushes we dont use no more :
