Ditching Sky

I posted above that I got the lot for £30 and a new SkyQ box. If it goes up I'm off again. Kodi is okay at times but I miss the convenience and reassurance that the game will be there. I'll be doing what @mcfcstu did and getting an ongoing deal. I think £30 for the lot would tempt a lot back for these reasons.

£80+ is ridiculous.

Its the 3pm ones mainly. plus when it is on bt or virginmedia its easier to get links from kodi

Paying £34 at the mo, runs out in Jan if I don't get it for the same I'm running out!

just ditched virgin to the disgust of my boys 30 days notice had 1 phone call already just said nope put phone down Russian roulette now

Just cancelled Virgin as well. They don't half make it hard for you to cancel. Waiting an hour on the phone, then try asking why I'm leaving and how bad it will joining sky.
Virgin kept increasing my price and in the end it was nearly £130, that's with multi room, unlimited fibre broadband, all tv channels including BT except movies and the phone line with Calls at anytime. Originally it was half price for 6 months then went up to £110 for the remaining 12 months of contract, then it crept creeping up. Scandalous price so I moved back to Sky for £80, that's sky Q in 2 rooms, unlimited fibre broadband, box set bundle and all sports, phone with wkend and night calls free. So I'm saving £50 and getting more. Sky originally said £124 and they was full of shit but managed to get them down to £80.

I know some people are chuffed they are able to work out how to stream for free but can you not go to the papers showing off about it? You're supposed to keep these things relatively shtum and maybe they will last longer. Now that everyone and their grandad are doing it, it forces their hand to a) Yes maybe adjust their prices(but honestly they can't beat free, I don't believe it will be enough to sway most people back) but also b) Come down on it hard by any means available to them... as they've done before. I've seen a lot of articles about this in the press recently just by searching "sky sports" so I have a feeling they are about to react.
Unfortunately the Premier League haven't yet seen the writing on the wall, or haven't yet acted. If they continue to allow their product to be copied and stolen from under their noses, eventually it'll not be worth anywhere near what they get from broadcasters at the moment. This could eventually kill off some clubs who depend on the TV income. There's never a victimless crime.

What they require is the ability to track broadcasts through digital watermarking to switch off the offenders at source. Sky Q, maybe?

I can honestly see all current overseas broadcasters losing their TV rights unless they can prove the ability to track re-streamers.

First rule of business - don't give your money away!

Ditched sky 3 weeks ago, best offer they gave me was 60% but wanted a new 12 month contract. I got an email last week asking me to come back with 60% off for 12 no contract.

Last night i tried my multi-room box in my bedroom for the first time since i was switched off thinking id only get freeview channels and to my surprise i still get everything i use to. Free sky, but for how long.

The way forward for broadcasters would be for an info-bar at the bottom of the page or side of the page selling in game advertising, free to air means increased viewing figures with the cost met by the advertiser (ok, they will pass the cost on to the viewer, but it gives the viewer more choice while still being able to enjoy the game).
& now if I want to watch my national side, I need to pay another £13 per month for "premier sports"

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but intending to ditch SKY and do not want to go to BT so am thinking of Virgin.

Just been looking at their 'bundles' online and can see that they offer the BT sports channels - but it is unclear if they offer the SKY channels - does anyone know.

Important for me because I can make the decision I want in our household - but will get grief if Mrs 1632 cannot continue to watch the programmes she has been used to seeing for the last 20 years on SKY
