Do we need another striker/AMs after Aguero ?

Whatever the rights or wrongs of Balotelli and Mancini's falling out, should we be looking for another striker and more attacking midfielders.
Chelsea and Utd each have 6 strikers. When Silva is off we look toothless. Assuming we get Aguero and Tevez leaves, does anyone think we need greater depth in strikers and AMs?
At the moment Dzeko is still finding his feet, Balo is not playing for the team and Aguero will be unfamilar with the PL and will surely take time to settle.
I know Yaya will be back and we have been linked with Nasri and Sneijder but it is possible we may get neither. Injuries etc will also surely take some toll.
It makes me unsettled to start the most testing campaign in the Club's history in this situation. Possibly there is time to gell but I would be happier with greater strength.

Oh, so they fell out now? And fuck yes we need another AM, preferably one with good passing and vision that can link up with Silva as well as take his place in case of injury. Ie, Pastore, Mata, Sneijder.

Or Nasri if he gets this aspect of his game better

Guidetti will only improve with game time, anyone who has watched the EDS could see the potential he has, hence the scattered frustration last season when Jo was playing instead.

So unless Balotelli really goes off the deep end, I don't think so. Dzeko is still a question mark but at worst we'll have to "make do" with Aguero/Balo/Dzeko/Guidetti until January and if Dzeko isn't working out by then still or Balo is all over the place, then we could consider another investment.

As for attacking midfielder - yes, we need at least one. Silva is all we have as a first teamer right now. Assulin, Suarez, and Roman all look special but young (although a fit Assulin will be in first team contention I reckon if not loaned out) so will need time.

Did you see the game? Mancini was chasing him along the touchline and Balo was ignoring him, hardly cordial or respectful! But that wasnt the main point of my post.

-- Mon Jul 25, 2011 12:47 am --

From what I've seen of Guidetti Ok but not convinced he is ready yet. IMO he should be loaned out for more first team experience like Chelsea did with Sturridge. Its a big step up from EDS to PL and CL.

we really need another AM, Silva cant play every game of the season and without him the teams looks like a bunch of headless chickens

We look a totally different team without Silva...second half yesterday was pish without him...if he gets an injury we are in trouble so I would say yes we need another creative AM or two...Suarez is being given a little playing time but is probably just too young to step up yet.
Would love us to bring in someone like Pastore, Nasri, Schneider, Modric.

Deffo another AM is needed. Nasri could do the job imo; Pastore would be nice.

Mancini also said earlier in the summer he has 3 forwards (Tevez, Dzeko, Balo) and needed another.

I have three strikers, we need another one.

If Tevez leaves and Aguero comes in, that still leaves 3 forwards, so perhaps another will be signed (Lavezzi possibly).

Tevez, Aguero, Balo, Dzeko....when Tevez leaves. next january or next summer...(unless he leaves this summer). I dont think Mancini can buy anyone.

When Tevez finally leaves...he will surely add another forward.

Bug after Aguero...assuming we can't find Tevez a buyer. No more strikers are needed. But when we get Aguero...we will still need attacking midfielders. Nasri etc...

Yes, we need another attacking midfielder. I think we also need another central midfielder, although we're not linked with any really. Barry and Milner are solid, De Jong is De Jong, but without Yaya we lack a bit of composure/spark in there. I think without Silva and Yaya we'd really struggle (relative of course, talking about competing in Champions League/Title).

One of the most worrying signs for me last season was actually Vieira and how much he stood out to me when he played. His ability just to thread pass forward or under pressure was just a level above the rest of our midfield (Yaya excepted).

central midfielder/attacking midfielder that can play either barrys position at times or take on silvas role and cover the left side of attack so Nasri would be ideal.

still feel we are short of quality and experience on the right as well this i would of thought why we are maybe going for Lavezzi or cerci

I must admit that if you take away Tevez, then the only top drawer players we have as far as attacking are Silva and Toure. The rest, although good, are all a bit inconsistent.

Don't panic, hasn't Mancini already said he wants 3 or 4 more. We are signing Aguero regardless of the Tevez situation, so I assume that means if Tevez stays we have our strikers, and if he leaves we'll replace him. In reality I can't see a buyer for Tevez currently and the addition of Aguero may buy us 12 more months of Carlos. Aguero is also a lot more flexible than Tevez, he can play anywhere across a front three where as Tevez can only really lead the line, he loves to be the main man, where as Aguero is used to being a supporting player, be it to Tevez/Higuian at International level or Forlan at Athletico. His ability to be a link man or the main man will effectively give us two additional options. His passing is sublime.
We are also heavily linked with Nasri so I assume we'll sign him or sign a player similar. I would expect us to add a Forward(Aguero) an Attacking midfielder (Nasri or similar) and a winger in the mould of Sanchez, obviously not Sanchez. I have only based this on what Mancini has said in interviews and the players we have been linked with/bid on.

This is a problem most ignore. As a team we have lots of talented individuals. But intelligence wise most are average, hence why we are grossly disjointed when our few intelligent guys don't play.

As far as intelligence on the ball goes:
1) Silva
2) Yaya
3) Barry
4) Kompany

Every one else is grossly limited and it shows :(

Balotelli is a loose cannon and can not be trusted to not lose the plot. He has to be replaced for me.

Pretty much this.

You can never trust him in a CL game or anything. Can you imagine playing Barca and leading 1-0, and he gets himself sent off!

Silva, Aguero?, Toure, De Jong and Kompany are our main players imo.

We need some more attacking quality as when Silva doesnt play, we look out of ideas/.

The number one area we were lacking in last season was another David Silva in attacking midfield. It's the reason we didn't challenge for the title, it's the reason we scored 20 odd goals less than United (who had a low scoring season for them!), it's the reason play broke down often in and around the last third, it's the reason we couldn't keep the ball better... plus if Silva missed a game or came off injured, we fall to pieces without him!

We haven't addressed this yet! Mancini has hinted that he thinks our transfer men are dragging their heels! We need a pacey, tricky, good passing, technically gifted, Silva-esque player!

City; get it sorted!

Can Wiess play as playmaker after Aguero ?
I think Wiess may be a potential subsitution of Silva.......

May be Mancini can change Wiess to be a playmaker .........

Again, Wiess is kinda like AJ, not inteligent enough, and doesn't see the pass. There are so many role players in mid level clubs who are just intelligent with the ball. And I am not even talking Sneidjer, Pastore, Mata superstars here. Just intelligent everyday role players. Jurado, RIncon, Pinzi e.t.c.
