Do we need to replace the Vieira void??

If we play it right PV will be more influential in this role than he ever was on the pitch for us.
Its not by chance you have a list on honours like he has.

I hope so. I hope he can pass on his wisdom and ideas to our youngsters and that they listen to him. If they don`t listen to him they won't listen to anyone. Even if he stays for a couple of years and influences one of our youngsters to greater things he has done his job.

Denis Suarez could fill an AM position, just a thought. Will obviously need time to adapt though, I imagine he will start in the EDS. However, if he has a good pre season, he may find himself on the bench.

I wouldnt mind seeing ibrahim step up if he's anywhere near good enough. If not we need to buy, paddy played a great part last season.

So would I - but he isn't good enough, his progress seems to have totally stalled. Razak seems better now and as mentioned Suarez is a midfielder (and Gai Assulin is an attacking midfielder).

Thought he was bought for his influence in the dressing room and nothing he did on the pitch has changed my mind.

Admittedly, we often needed Vieira, someone with a huge amount of experience to help see out a win or draw but he could never change a game and certainly couldn't comand a game for 90 mins. Yes, he was the only midfield player with ability to head a ball and did always force us forward instead of sidewards/backwards but fact is he wasn't as fast or fit as he used to be and he knew it.

Was he a good buy? For the reasons above he was perfect. If only for his part in both wembley games he was vital. But, I think it's time for us to let the team move up a level now without him or a replacement. Kompany can easily deal with dressing room and will definately be able to motivate the players, Barry/Milner have to learn to see out games and maybe Yaya can learn to head the ball (actually, after his goals at wembley, if His Royal Highness Sir Yaya of Etihad doesn't want to head the ball, he doesn't have to, we'll find someone else to head it for him).

what better role model for the young players, just getting their first big contracts and thinking they are billy-bigballs, than a World Cup/European Championships winner who has collected domestic medals for fun, to keep their feet on the ground and guide them in avoiding the pit-falls of the money, and in how to keep on the straight and narrow
