Do we play good football?

A new Yaya is needed to break the lines, not another foot on the ball type.

You automatically entice the player to try and make a tackle if you make the attempt to take them on.

If you are running at the next line of defence (parked bus) they don't have time to sit in their set-up, and that's when the spaces open.

Interestingly, none of our midfield do this. Only Silva deep, and for some reason Pep moved away from that after Monaco.

We rely on Stones, Kolarov, Otamendi and Kompany to do this, and that's why we look shaky at the back at times. We have far too many people trying to do the job of one person IMO.

I think it needs someone who also has pace? Isco and Gundogan are great technicians but their legs don't get them where we would need to be.

You need drive and power. Look at Yaya during those last 30 minutes at Wembley, he was able to get us 30 yards further upfield.

Controversial, possibly, but Dele Alli or Fabinho are perfect.

We have to add pace.

Or, for potentially much cheaper than Delle Ali in particular, Kerem Demirbay is one of the best box to box type driving midfielders in Europe at the moment, at 23 years old.

Afraid we are turning into the new Goons , pretty football , 4th place finish and roll over when we play the top six sides we have lost the never say die spirit that Bobby instilled into the squad , Pellers diluted this and its now non existent under Pep. Chavs and Spuds have not got better players than us , they have unity and teamwork and a coach/manager who has instilled a work ethic and tactics that are far more superior to ours at the moment , the next transfer window is vital for Pep to attract the right players who can carry out his tactics to the letter and if this happens the sky is the limit

Seems to me that we have been told to keep possession so much that players now - in the main - favour the slow and safe backwards pass rather than attempting the quick forwards pass which will risk losing possession and result in a bollocking from the manager? Whatever the reason, we just don't seem to want to move the ball quickly until we are 1-0 down and suddenly realise we'd better get our shit together.

It's FAR too slow and predictable, as reflected in our results.
Agree with this, kev is the only one who pays a quick ball fowards and he gets savaged for it when it doesn't come off but he is always trying to get a move started quickly

Yes we do play good football but we do have a habit of shooting ourselves in the foot through individual errors.

Define "good". To me, we're too slow in our attacking play. Yes, we boss possession in a lot of our games. But a lot of that possession is what's become known as "tippy tappy" football, with an insufficient cutting edge. Endless passing around in the middle third of the pitch will not, in itself, win you games. Spurs (as much as it pains me to say it) is the template we should be looking at. They get the ball forward quickly, getting the opposition on the back foot quickly. And I don't think anyone could say that Spurs are a "Hoofball" mob.

Very good post , we lack fight, unity and work ethic, it seems to run through the club, the eds lads the other night seem to mirror the first team , we seem to lack that bit of aggression that ALL teams need to dominate football matches , it all seems a bit too nice City these days , Spurs have aggression , Chelsea have it in spades , United have it , Arsenal don't have it and we appear to be more like Arsenal these days.

We had a strong dressing room under Mancini (Mancini isn't a swear word by the way) half a dozen strong characters that ran through walls on the pitch - who do we have these days ?

Said it before it doesn't matter how much you spend - if you buy mercenary mard arses with no backbone it will fail , Ferguson the twat had this part well and truly sussed.
