Problem is, they haven't done that, when it matters, for years. Yes, they sail through the qualifiers regularly enough. And no doubt they'll do so again this time, particularly as they've already won the potentially most difficult tie. But when is the last decent tournament they had; Euro '96? Last summer was truly risible. And the persistence in picking players that don't deserve to be in there. Rooney shouldn't even be in the same postcode as the England squad.
