My dad came to visit on Saturday and mentioned the game was on at around 5pm, so I thought, okay, might watch it. Went to the tip around 4 and clean forgot about it and went off to do a bit of shopping. Remembered about 10 mins before the end - couldn't be bothered turning it on. So, no, don't care any more.

The problem is all these new countries. You can say what you like - football was better under communism!

In reflection the Malta game wasn't even competitive and was probably the best argument I've seen for preliminaries in world cup qualifiers

Not anymore. I would have preferred to show the Rugby League final in the pub but opted for the football under protest. Even the Oxon masif agreed the egg chasing would have been a better bet afterwards!

Regardless of whether England are actually any good or not, the bloated size of these competitions and the ridiculous seedings have completely killed qualifying as any kind of spectacle. I've not bothered watching one for ages because the outcome is pretty much guaranteed (even for a terrible England side). Would be good for international football (and, in the long term, for the England team) if some of the bigger names met more often in competitive games, like Italy vs Spain the other day.

I doubt he would be fit and raring to go if he had another 6 months off, he's finished now, that's bad though as he fucks up their team dynamic completely when he does play.
