Do you give a toss about England?

The last time I was fully behind the England team was Euro 96. It's hard to invest emotionally in a team when it consists of players you actually dislike.
This too. Mostly rags and mockneys. When city players are selected for ingerlund I get the same feeling as when my son goes out with one of his more dodgy mates :-(

As a kid, I couldn't understand why various Southern wusses, rags & scousers seemed to get regular picks irrespective of how they performed, & seemingly better players rarely got a sniff & if they did, it was one strike & you're out.

Then it dawned on me. And it's never changed. Also, I have no respect for most of the people involved in the organisation & indeed don't trust them.

So consequently I don't feel as if the team represents me, it feels like it represents them.

Where's our resident Wiiiiist Hiiiiim fan to give us the party line, sorry, reasons why we should get behind our glorious national team?

Calling @BlueHammer85.
He is too busy drooling over Henderson shrek and Jamie fox,s stats this season, attempting to shoehorn them all into some fantasy England team which means something argument on another teams fans forum.
Or he could be busy awaiting the release of the bbc funded fairytale film. 'How the fortunate foxes took engerlish football by storm'
Believe..

A choice between an England World cup final win or a City league cup final would have me choosing City every time.

Is there a correlation with city being more successful and pretty much qualifying for champions league most years and a lack of interest in England. Would fans have been more likely to follow the national side when city were a bit shite, not playing in Europe and generally being less successful. If you notice most flags and banners at England internationals are from less successful sides. Would you be more inclined to follow England if city were not performing? While I can understand people putting club before country I can't understand the total lack of interest in your national side from some. There will never be a reason ( other than financial ) to put one in front of the other anyway . This break might be a good thing as it means KDB won't miss as many games.

If anything it should be easier to follow England now City are successful. It was worse when we were shit, because we were cheering for two sets of incompetent twats. These days there are actually City players in the England team, but instead of wanting to cheer them on I find myself only hoping they come through without any injuries.
I think the lack of interest stems from the fact that for years the England team was made up of players who openly hated City and continue to do so from their pundit chairs. It's hard to cheer for someone when you spend the rest of the season thinking they're cunts.

This.

I have worked with a lad who follows England EVERY game home and away. He also follows the cricket and rugby teams too, there are a group of them. He has a zero hour contract and when the games are over just makes himself available and works all the time to pay for his next trips. I admire his dedication.

Not really, i find myself looking forward to watching other teams at world cups and such if i am honest. That 'golden generation' shit really did my head in also, they never came close to justifying the praise heaped praised on them. Blairs happy clappy Britain, golden generation, wags, christ i hated those years, probably why i moved country :-D I am not a conservative either i should add, all the above though mixed and gave me the urge to throw up.
