I've been that little kid during Euro 96' waving his St George flag, going to a few England matches, and as an adult I've been abroad watching the national team.
But I've also played the game and when you see the poor standard of facilities and coaching opportunities at the grassroots level here in this country it really demotivated me to have an interest.
For me it's clear to see the team is chosen specifically for the profile of the game, its a TV audience pleaser.
There are many English players in lower leagues right now who would fight for their lives to play at Wembley for just one chance wearing that shirt.
They'd fucking kill for it yet because they are not high profile, don't have certain agents, and don't play for certain clubs they aren't even considered.
I've seen the coaching standards at grassroots level over in Spain with my own eyes as my dad's lived over there now for a long time and its obvious to see why they produce far better players.
When The FArce start funding more coaching opportunities, facilities, and players who WANT to play for the team are picked rather than rich Premier league players who only appear to continue their sponsorship obligations then we will see good football.
Sadly this won't happen any time soon as so much money is being made and the needed coaching improvements would take 20/30yrs to notice.
Speaks volumes when a club like City had to literally build their own coaching system, a full on super academy to develop players as the country that the club is based in is so fucking inept at player development.
Fuck them.
