Do you really believe the league is over...?

Lets just hope we get 4 from this week and then another 4 from the two games vs Stoke and Everton - that's 8 points before the Derby. Takes us 21 ahead of the rags in theory.

Then they get 2 points from Palace and Liverpool - reduces it to 19. They beat Swansea at home before the Derby and I make that 16.

They will then have 7 games left Maximum 21 points - we beat them and the most they can then get is 18. We would be 19 ahead on my strange logic.

So in short 8 points from our next 4 games - they get 5 from the next 3 and we can win it against them on April the 7th.

I think this is what will happen. Even if we draw against them - they would be only able to get 19 and we would be 16 ahead. Would leave us needing one win to be certain after that. Take your pick from Huddersfield, Swansea or Brighton.

Its looking good!

Just need to get these 8 points in the next 4.
There's an awful lot of asumption in there. It could well play out that way, but we know how unpredictable things can be. Whilst I am not in the "fanny wipe" club, I think it may be a bit closer than a few think. I think there's one thing we all agree on, and that's the sooner we seal it the better.

Looking at this the Rags task to overhaul us is pretty much on a par with Arsenal catching the Rags - neither scenario is impossible but neither is very likely.

Oh come on. If City were as far behind as everyone else is then we'd be saying it's all over. Pretty much everyone is aware that it's not technically done yet, but a gap this large means City are nearly there. Nothing raggy about that - every other fan of every other club already thinks it's done and dusted.

Yes, City could collapse abysmally and throw it all away, but it's not very likely. Nothing remotely arrogant about that.
Think it but don't start chanting and singing about it till we've actually won it.

I think it will be tight now that they slashed the gap to 13 points and we failed to pick up any points over the weekend!

If we can pick up at least 4 points this week, then it is over. The loss of Fernandinho and impending suspension for him once he returns is a worry as we have no direct replacement or bite without him.

What needs to happen for us to get a guard of honor against united.
With the postponement if the Brighton gane it's difficult. We have to win every game and they lose two games - ideally against Palace & Swansea. (+6 points) +22 points @Derby KO. Liverpool would have to drop 4 points too.
Ain't going to happen.
Still we win the title at some point.
Beating Utd with the weakend sides we both put out in the derby would be nice though (assuming they beat Sevila).

We have a nasty stretch of league fixtures, our next 6 are Arsenal (A), Chelsea (H), Stoke (A), Everton (A), Rags (H) and Spurs (A). Really crucial we capitalise on the cup win and start that run with a few wins to keep the gap up because otherwise it could be a run that puts some pressure on. The Rags have a very easy run-in so we need to make the most of the next 2 weeks. Having that run of fixtures around the CL quarter-finals is going to be a very difficult run, it's a blessing we're out of the FA Cup I think because our schedule would be unsustainable otherwise, that 19 days off could be key for our chances.
It’s not 19 days off. They go for internationals.

Bloody hell, that is a tough run - I hadn't really noticed before.

Like you say, really key we keep our pedal to the metal, especially with the Arsenal game on Thursday. I expect they will be REALLY up for that game after the bad press they've rightly received over the past week. Win in London and we *should* be able to beat Chelsea at our place and then we'll be in touching distance of the title and perhaps the pressure will be less.

I'm pissed off that Chelsea laid down at the swamp last weekend, or we'd be even further clear with an even greater margin of comfort.

The 16 point gap will shrink as our next 6 games in the league contain, Arsenal(a), Chelsea(h), United(h) and Spurs(a). The CL has to be managed VERY well too.
The goal difference counts as an extra point. So theoretically we are 17 clear right now. The only other big matches between the top 6 are United v Liverpool and Chelsea v Spurs in that time.
So the next two are really important in winning the league really really early, as a Liverpool result against United could hand it us on a plate.

Just looked at the dates for Champs league too. 3/4 April and 10/11 April

April 3rd CL: 1ST LEG
April 7th PL: United
April 11th CL: 2ND LEG
April 14th PL Spurs

Imagine if United get through and we get them in the draw?!!! 3 Derbys in a row!

Sevilla would be the team I want if they got through, Or the winner of Shaktar/Roma, even if it means a trip to Russia.
