Reformed sociopath- Just trying to be....nice.
I was watching a City DVD (c.2000) the other day where David Bernstein was waxing lyrical about the prospect of COMS. There were grand blueprints of a developed surrounding area, there was talk of it's own metrolink like it was part of the package and not a distant whim. It looked marvellous.

The stadium is superb and slowly improving with time but the rest of it is shite and Manchester City Council are getting away with it. Expanses of unused land at the front, a monument to council incompetence with the B of the bung (sic).
NO metrolink seven years and counting since the opening of the stadium. Issard Kingdom Brunel used to knock up huge viaducts for fun in the 19th century with little more than manual labour, and yet the council can't even keep the front of the stadium weed free.

They're still taking the money every week though aren't they?

It's time our owners called a meeting and told Richard Leese and the other small time bastards in the council to put up or ship out because frankly they are holding us back and dragging us down. And I think City fans should apply pressure in everyway possible to remove MCC's interest from our football club.

I agree to a certain extent. I don't think they're taking the p!ss as I don't think it's intentional I just think the problems are financial (withdrawal of finance for metrolink) and your usual local council incompetence.

We've never had the chance to do anything about it previously but don't think our new owners will accept it - if you don't meet any promises (hopefully in the contracts) then they'll push the council out and do it themselves, which is my preference.

The metro is being built as we speak, It will be up to the stadium by early next year. We should all know how long it takes for funds to be released by our government, they have to make sure all the MP's expenses are paid first before they worry about public transport, thats why it has taken so long.

word on the street is that adug are looking at investing a lot of money round the local area with new developments (hotels and stuff) so i would be careful what you wish for as it could end up looking like stamford bridge soon.

I can see it now, Hotel Bluemoon. Bring it on.

Agree with the original poster, thank fuck we've got some hope that the owners will do something otherwise the place would end up decaying even more if it was left to the fuckers at the council and probably be more akin to the Riverside in about ten years, barren and desolate.

As already mentioned, the Tram will be here shortly. It's not just us - we've been waiting 12 years for the tram to the Trafford Centre. The general rule is that unless you are called London you aint getting shit.

HaHa

Their expenses alone could pay for the London Olympics and wipe out the national debt.

The tram stop is already there just like at the airport, but the tracks and things arn't, to be honest I thing (even if we didn't move to the stadium after the games) that the tram network should have atleast been bulit before the start of the games, even if it was just upto the stadium itself.
