But in order to target them we need access to US GPS satellites. If you can aim them they are useless.

in other words we are spending billions in the midst of a depression to buy weapons we can only use if it is in the interests of a foreign power (the USA)

So that's a huge no from me. Spend half on conventional forces and half on public services.

TRIDENT IS NOT INDEPENDANT IT IS SIMPLY A WAY OF REDUCING AMERICA'S MILITARY SPENDING AT THE EXPENSE OF OUR OWN COUNTRY.

Nonsense. You clearly have no idea how a trident missile operates.

I wouldn't bother mate the missile defence specialists on here are clearly way above other people

Yes, we need nukes. Nukes and free trade (real free trade) are what stop wars.

"Do we need an army?" is the better question, in my view.

One world Army 'lanjo',Nato, one world Govt. next stop......

They are aimed via internal mechanisms and totally independent of any satellite. The Chevaline programme also made our warheads "steerable" so they can be targeted independently of each other.

The first action of a nuclear war would almost certainly be a high-altitude blast to yield an electro-magnetic pulse that would render satellites and non-shielded ground communications (and other electronics) useless.

Well mate behind the scenes we are indeed being ran by a select few families, imo about 10 as a round figure, so yes indeed we are ever closer to being ran by one govt. You are also correct in saying that China are infact the ones to watch, they are the blueprint.

I will bow to your knowledge. However do you honestly believe the US would allow us to use them Independantly without their permission? Of course not so my original assertion stands. They are a waste of UK taxpayers money and their purchase is simply a way of making the defense of American global interests cheaper for American taxpayers - by making UK taxpayers foot the bill

I thought the new missile systems were to be ours as the US our making there own new systems at the moment
Also i cant find anywhere that the Americans have overall control of our nuclear weapons
